2005 hyundai tucson crankshaft position sensor location

I have a 2005 Tucson with the 2.7 engine. l I went to replace the crankshaft position sensor and figured out where it was was but now the problem is how do I get to it? Do I have to take out the starter? Can I just unbolt the starter and pull it back or do I have to take the cables off first to get it out of the way? Or is there even a better way to get the sensor out? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just noticed my 2005 GLS has been stumbling losing power after hard rains and then the problem goes away - all signs point to this part needing replacement. I even had my car basically lose all engine power and stall.

Sonata and Santa Fe I do them with starter in place... do it cold.

10mm socket in the 1/4 drive flavor, extension of appropriate length, and short 1/4 drive ratchet.

Need to take the tin loose from starter.

Who told you that? Did you have a code scan?

It hasn't had any check engine light during the incidents. This part or TPS seems like the likely culprits from what i've researched and based upon these parts tending to go bad on the 05 Tucson. Does anybody have any good photos of the part's location? with the radiator hose in the way it's challenging to see.

4 and 6 is both in same relative position... 6 is on block behind starter, 4 is on radiator side of block... look at exhaust manifold, the spy slightly to your right, see all them wires ??? Crank Position Sensor is there on the block beside the oil pressure switch, and has a 3 wire rectangle connector on it.

TPS is on the side of the throttle body... the 2.7 TPS is grey,,, and it is problem part... your issue there typically is the engine will stall when rolling up to a stop. New TPS is black color part. Crank Position rarely sets code, usually found after engine dead, sensor replace and running again,, go in and look for DTC, and DTC sometimes found then.

My car started stalling at very low speeds and now really struggles for power going up hill (we have recently had a lot of rain).

I have bought a new Crankshaft Position Sensor and I am really struggling to find it in my engine.

I have a 2005 2.7l v6 and I have been googling all week and getting all different locations where this could possibly be and am really stuck now.

I have got no idea about engines, none at all. I only bought this thing because I cannot really afford to have it fixed at the moment and I read here that it was quite an easy job.

Where exactly is the starter in my engine?

When I open the bonnet and look down at the engine, is the starter at the back, underneath the engine?

So therefore is my only way to get in there to go from underneath?

Do I need to take out the cover/pan that is bolted to the underneath?

Please, any help would be really helpful.

2005 tucson 2.7

I just replaced my cranckshaft position sensor 5 days ago. The old one had signs of insulation break down and wires were exposed. It was a bit difficult, space is limited and mostly done be feel rather than site. Changed from the under side after removing the plastic splash guard. Well, ran fine until 5 days later. The same code for the sensor, cranckshaft position sensor and same running symptoms.

What is goinig on??? Does anyone have any ideas. I plan on checking the connector, cable and sensor mounting. But I'm sure all is well. With that much work, I checked and double checked everything.

Starter is hiden by a heat shield in the front part of the engine. Must rremove plastic splash guard.

I just replaced my Crankshaft position sensor on my wifes' 05 Hyundai Tucson 2.7 liter GLS. Took it out for a test run. At 55mph after about 10 min. It shut down; engine had stalled; dash gauges, speedo, everything appeared to be off. Still traveling at about 50mph in drive it restarted gauges came on line speedo pointed to 50mph. It happened several more times. I started to pray Lord get me home. I ended up traveling about 25 miles & it stuttered & stalled about 5 times. Waited about 15 to 45 seconds each time. Then it looked just like when you first turn the key on; right before you start it. I will try the TPS next to see if that helps.

I am having the same problems. Had the crankshaft position sensor replaced. Car runs fine for a little while and then back to same issues. Any suggestions?
