Jan 27, 2014 Does anyone know where the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located on a 2010 3.0? I believe it's the cause of a P0017 code and I have a replacement sensor but for the live of me I cannot locate it on the engine. Thanks for any help. Joined Mar 21, 2011 · 1,317

With the new part in your hand, it seems like if you crawl under there, it should be fairly obvious, right ? Joined May 9, 2011 · 33 Posts

Discussion Starter · #9 · Jan 27, 2014 Alright. I just spent another good half-hour combing the drivers side and firewall side of the engine and found nothing that looks like the crankshaft sensor in my hand. The sensor is an AC-Delco part (#213-4573) that I bought from RockAuto so I'm reasonably sure it's the right one. Sure would be great to have a picture or drawing of where it's located.

The sensors are above the top of the serpentine belt; the shop manual seems to show them 3-4" above. The Joined Jan 2, 2010 · 10,647 Posts

Where is my crank position sensor located? The Crankshaft Position sensor is normally located in the timing cover or on the side of the block with a cylindrical portion that inserts into the block. Will a malfunctioning Cam or Crank Sensor illuminate the check engine light or affect vehicle operation?
What are the symptoms of a faulty crankshaft position sensor?Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Crankshaft Position Sensor. Issues Starting the Vehicle.. Intermittent Stalling.. Check Engine Light Comes On.. Uneven Acceleration.. Engine Misfires or Vibrates.. Rough Idle and/or Vibrating Engine.. Reduced Gas Mileage.. Can I change crankshaft sensor myself? While the crankshaft position sensor is a pretty sophisticated piece of equipment, and you might be intimidated by the idea of replacing it yourself, you probably shouldn't be. With a good set of instructions, the right tools, and some effort, you can replace your crankshaft sensor yourself.
