Navels actually originated in Brazil, where the fruit spontaneously appeared on an orange tree in a monastery grove. Naturally seedless, the fruit was an instant hit! Perfected over time, it’s been a Pittman & Davis staple from the beginning, and we like to think that shows: our fresh navel oranges are exceptionally sweet, richly flavored and very juicy. We leave these seedless beauties on the tree until they’re bursting with color and flavor, then hand-select the best ones to ship straight to you.

Are Texas oranges in season?Seasons/Availability
Texas Sweet oranges are available in the late fall through the spring.
Where are Texas oranges grown?Since that time, crops have been cultivated in one relatively small section of the state. The region is known as the Rio Grande Valley and it is located in South Texas. Because it has a subtropical climate and fertile soil, this region is perfect for growing citrus fruits like Texas oranges and grapefruit.
How much is a bushel of oranges?1 bushel = 48-72 oranges or 32-48 grapefruit. 1/4 bushel = 12-18 oranges or 8-12 grapefruit. 1/8 bushel = 6-9 oranges (we do not sell grapefruit by 1/8 bushel due to their larger size).
