This position is part-time (up to 30 hours/week) Sunday- Saturday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 6 hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (5:00am-10:00pm). The initial training shift will be 4:00pm-10:00pm Monday-Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at 3515 Harbor Blvd., Costa Mesa, CA.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to incoming calls from our customers on issues related to benefit eligibility questions and prescription status inquiries
  • Guide and educate callers on their prescription benefits, use of plan, formulary, premiums and status of orders and claims or inquiries
  • Ask appropriate questions and listen actively while documenting required information in computer systems
  • Identify issues and communicate solutions and steps to customers, pharmacies and physicians with prescription orders and reorders
  • Make outbound calls to customers on prescription orders and payment issues

You'll be called on to research complex issues pertaining to member prescription and /or pharmacy benefits across multiple databases which requires fluency in computer navigation and toggling while confidently and compassionately engaging with the caller.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8 hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of (8:00am - 5:00pm). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. This is telecommute/work from home role in California. We offer 1 week of paid training. The hours during training will be 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Answer 50-70 incoming phone calls per day from customers and identify the type of assistance the customer needs
  • Ask appropriate questions and listen actively to identify specific questions or issues while documenting required information in computer systems
  • Contact care providers (doctor's offices) on behalf of the customer to assist with appointment scheduling or connections with internal specialists for assistance when needed
  • Assist customers in navigating UnitedHealth Group websites while encouraging and reassuring them to become self-sufficient in using our tools
  • Research complex issues across multiple databases and work with support resources to resolve customer issues and/or partner with others to resolve escalated issues
  • This role is equally challenging and rewarding. You'll be called on to research complex issues across multiple databases. It requires fluency in computer navigation and toggling while you confidently and compassionately engage in dialogue with the caller. Be assured that our training will provide you with knowledge of the various products, plans and levels of benefits available to members and you'll soon find yourself creating positive experiences and earning the gratitude of callers on an hourly basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to navigate and learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Must reside in California
  • You will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's US Telecommuting Policy
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in a related environment (i.e. office, administrative, clerical, customer service, etc.) using phones and computers as the primary job tools
  • Prior health care experience

Soft Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to listen skillfully, collect relevant information, build rapport and respond to customers in a compassionate manner
  • Proficient conflict management skills to resolve issues in a stressful situation
