It is cast from a very soft alloy, so the assembly becomes loose over time, and starts rattling and vibrating. And the holes strip out easily when you tighten the screws. This was easy to install, being very careful not to over-tighten and strip out the holes in the replacement part. If this one eventually becomes loose and the threads strip out like its predecessor, then perhaps I'll follow others' advice, and redrill/tap for larger #10 screws. Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2021 Worked great after Safelite messed up my windshield install and couldn't install my mirror. I think I'll be taking this to their office to see if they'll reimburse me. Has complete through- holes on the soft metal cam lock, rather than being countersunk like the original. Comes with new longer screws to fully thread and go all the way through the cam lock holes, too. Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2021 Worked like a charm just had the windshield replaced on my 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. Full metal construction, a little tricky to install but once in the mirror is superrrr solid. Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2020 All the right pieces; tight; easy to install. I would have given 5 stars...but I had to use the spring steal from the original mount. Other than that, the mirror is now tight and securely mounted. Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2020 Good replacement after Safelite stripped the previous one’s threads when replacing windshield. No more wobbly mirror! Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2018 Bought 2009 Forester XT and the mirror was loose. This worked perfectly except for the wire piece that wouldn't quite fit. No problem using the original and now everything fits and tightens down. Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2016 My mirror was wiggling and falling off regularly, and this replacement kit certainly did the job; the mirror feels quite solid now. I do wish that the design had been improved, though, so that this wouldn't happen again in a few years, as I'm guessing it will.
