Versatile, Value-packed Condenser Mic

The sE Electronics sE2200 is the latest update of the company's venerable large-diaphragm cardioid condenser mic — and, thanks to its discrete Class A components, it sounds incredible. It delivers the same stunning, up-front sound and full feature set that made the original version such a huge hit. This is an incredibly versatile microphone, equally at home in front of a guitar cabinet as it is over a drum kit. And if you're looking for that first truly special vocal mic, the sE2200 is an excellent choice. At Sweetwater, we know value when we hear it. The sE Electronics sE2200 is a no-brainer addition to your mic locker.

Top-shelf sound quality from discrete Class A components

The sE2200 eschews integrated circuits for carefully selected, discrete Class A components — a rarity in mics at this price point. State-of-the-art surface-mounted electronic components with extremely tight tolerances deliver expensive-sounding results on any source. With the sE2200, you can expect stunning sound quality with consistent performance and remarkably high sensitivity. It excels in just about every application we've used it in here at Sweetwater, and we're confident that it will do the same for you.

Versatile cardioid polar pattern

Featuring a custom, handcrafted 1" gold-sputtered diaphragm, the sE Electronics sE2200 condenser microphone features a fixed cardioid polar pattern. When you close-mic with your sE2200, the cardioid pattern does a great job of capturing what's in front of it while rejecting bleed from adjacent sources and ambient sound from the rest of the room. This is especially desirable for onstage use, where sound pressure levels can be quite high.

Low noise and high headroom

When it comes to capturing dynamic content, not all studio-style condenser mics are created equal. In fact, the same mic that sounds great on your amp stack may be a bit too noisy to use on an acoustic guitar, and your favorite vocal mic may not be able to handle the SPLs typically encountered by drum overheads. Not so with the sE Electronics sE2200 condenser microphone. That's because the sE2200 is able to withstand up to 145dB (with the 20dB pad engaged), while maintaining a super-low noise floor. It's just what you need to capture highly dynamic sounds.

Extra onboard options give you even more flexibility

Talk about a studio workhorse mic! The sE Electronics sE2200 was built to handle just about any sound you can imagine. Not only is it naturally able to keep up with extremely dynamic sound sources, such as vocals and brass instruments, but it gives you both an 80/160Hz highpass filter and a 10/20dB pre-attenuation pad to further shape its response. Whether you need to cut out low-end rumble or back off the gain to capture a screaming amp stack, the sE Electronics sE2200 gives you the sonic flexibility you need.

I was using this in another studios, and had to get one for myself. Great on vocals, acoustic guitar, any acoustic instrument really. I can't say enough about how nice this mic is.
A vocal mic like this was a goal for my studio gear. Also giving my Sweetwater associate 5 stars!
So far only used for music over Zoom but the improvement in sound quality is fantastic. Both a Sweetwater tech guy and my sale's rep said for the money (and my general usage) this was the best out there. I've got a half dozen older mics and this blows them all away.
Originally I was in the market for a much more expensive mic $1000+ range. I was looking for an upgrade over my Shure sm7 and this mic was not on my radar until I listened to the sweetwater mic shootout through a pair of KRK ROKIT 5 G3 5" and we narrowed it down to two mics. The Neumann U87 and this bad boy there are areas when the U87 outshines the sE Electronics sE2200 but for the price and dynamics this mic is a no brainer for us to go with this. We did not think the Neumann was worth 10 times the price based off our ears but branding and a famous musical history cost more. I was hesitant to buy this mic because of the price but I'm genuinely thrilled with what we got!
When I first picked up this microphone, I hooked it up to my Focusrite 2i4 at home and was quickly surprised at how smooth and even it sounded for a $300 mic. When I got it to the studio through a Neve 1073, I was blown away! Paired with a good preamp, the sE2200 is amazingly transparent and free of the overly hyped high-end usually associated with mics in this price range. The sE2200 also takes very well to EQ and dialing a solid tone is a breeze. With the adding bonus of a shock mount and a pop filter, the value is simple awesome!

I highly recommend the sE2200 if you're looking for Mic under $500
