Use Case: Same Day Onboarding*

Staffing emergencies happen all the time. We’re here to make sure you’re ready to handle them smoothly so that you maintain coverage and your high standards of patient care.

Onboarding Begins

  • 10:00AM

A nursing home staffing director contacts All American. They had a last-minute callout and have an immediate need to fill a shift that afternoon.

  • 11:00am

An All American account manager has provided a quote and sent a new client agreement. The staffing director signs and returns the contract.

  • 11:30am

All American emails, texts and calls their segmented network of professionals in the area surrounding the nursing home, alerting them of an open position available that day.

  • 11:38am

A qualified candidate responds and accepts the shift. They are provided all the details they need about the assignment.

  • 1:00PM

    Employee arrives at nursing home.

ShiftMed is a top nursing jobs app that gives licensed RNs, LPNs, CNAs, GNAs, STNAs, and CHWs the power to choose when, where, and how often they work. We offer per diem, short-term, and permanent employment opportunities.

Once you've completed our onboarding process, you have direct access to thousands of local shifts in the ShiftMed app. Our shifts occur in various healthcare settings, from skilled nursing facilities to assisted living communities to hospitals. With no shift minimums, you can work 8 hours one week and 40 hours the next.

Check out our welcome video to learn more.

We hire licensed RNs, LPNs, CNAs, STNAs, and CHWs who can reliably deliver safe, quality care to patients in various healthcare settings, such as skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, long-term care facilities, and hospitals.

While we hire healthcare professionals across the country, we currently do not offer employment in every state—but we're working hard to change that. We're consistently growing our national footprint and taking on new partner facilities daily.

We currently offer shifts at facilities in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. We'll have more states coming soon!

Once you work your first shift with us, you’re officially a W-2 ShiftMed employee—which means we’ll send you a W-2 form to file your yearly taxes.

ShiftMed is a nursing jobs app, so you must have an active RN, LPN, CNA, GNA, STNA, or CHW license. We also require RNs and LPNs to have a minimum of six months of experience to apply.

The onboarding process involves passing a skills quiz, completing employment-related agreements, and providing credentials based on the requirements set forth by your state of residence or the facilities themselves.

Credentials typically include an annual physical exam, TB test results, a COVID vaccination card (or medical/religious exemption), and a background check.

Check out our help center article that discusses specific credentialing requirements by state.

Our pay period runs Saturday through Friday, with scheduled paydays every Friday. However, we have options within our app that allow you to access your hard-earned money ahead of schedule.

Next Day Pay® Next Day Pay® is a free service that allows you to work a shift and receive up to 75% of your gross earnings the very next business day. We’ll deposit your pay directly into your bank account—with no added fees.

Overtime is available in select circumstances and must be approved in advance.
