I'm at my wit's end trying to think of a decent job that requires zero to no customer contact.... so I want to know what else y'all can suggest.

Edit: Idk if this is the right place to ask this.... 😅

Jobs for introverts with anxiety without degree reddit

I did scroll through the search bar, but couldn't find a thread on this specifically.

What are some financially stable careers for women with anxiety and highly introverted (needs to work alone or in small groups)?

Jobs for introverts with anxiety without degree reddit

level 1

Library shelver. Not a ton of interaction with the public and all your coworkers are likely super respectful of your personality and it's needs. Plus books all day! Hard on the knees though in my experience.

level 1

Medical insurance coding. Once you have a little experience, you can do it remotely from home for a billing company.

level 1

Not quite the answer you're likely looking for, but as a socially anxious, introverted person, social work ended up being ideal for me. It helped me become less anxious, too.

level 2

My anxiety stems most of the time from overly investing my time into other people, which I've been told by my social worker friends will destroy me in the long run

level 1

Sometimes the career matters less than the workplace. E.g. teaching in front of a classroom was stressful for me, but tutoring 1:1 in a subject I am great in was fun and easy.

level 2

I agree; this is the mindset I am keeping in mind that I may not like corporate business, but might feel comfortable in a small business setting.

level 1

I'd like to say Librarian, but I think that profession is going away with most people reading ebooks.

Accountant perhaps, as you deal with numbers rather than people.

Writer. Both fiction and nonfiction. Everything from novels to manuals.

Illustrator or graphic designer

Having an Etsy shop where you sell something your create from artwork, textiles, to furniture (whatever you can think of)

level 2

You couldn't possibly be more wrong about the field of librarianship, because it's more in demand, not less these days, and it's generally a public facing position, meaning a lot of interaction with other people.

level 2

I thought i wanted to be an accountant then COVID happened. I absolutely hate who I’ve become , and get even more anxious around people. Before i was anxious on the inside but could mask it well and interact just fine with people. Not anymore bc my social skills have declined so much. I’ve realized a job where i interact with ppl is actually better for me even tho I’m 100% introverted

level 1

Videogame development, art, home bakery, fashion, writing books, and if you can manage a small crowd you can probably do daycare work. I don’t have anxiety or if I do it’s muffled from being raised a guy and having to not have emotions but I am definitely an introvert and I’ve worked telemarking, cashiering, and construction as well as bartending. Construction was my best cuz the pay and only me and my boss are ever at work but it’s exhausting and leaves you with no time. Bartending payed Decent but drunks can be a hassle especially if your pretty.

level 2

Thought about video game development and writing books before, but have zero idea how you get into it without knowing where to network.

Bartending would've been nice in between career jumps, but the bars are all closed for the time being where I live.

level 1

I work as an assistant career advisor and O*Net online is a great resource that we use a lot in the office. You can sort careers by really specific criteria and look at the skills and values of a particular career in order to give you an idea of whether it would be a good fit for you. To the best of my knowledge, you should be able to search for careers that have limited to no social interaction, but you might have to play around with it a little bit.

level 2

Librarian/archivist is in my top 3 currently. Thank you for listing some careers outside of the typical ones, by the way!

level 1

IT departments are normally broken into groups. My company has about 3-4K people and my department (IT) has different teams of 3 or more people. For example, hardware, help desk, networking, security, or servers. The people who work w servers I would say keep to themselves or their team the most. So that’s the benefit of working IT for a big company. Your localized to a specialized area. Small companies normally have you juggle a lot, which means more interactions.

level 1

Technical writer. Graphic design. Drafter.

level 1

I'm in school for software engineering. It works out because everyone is a nerd, strange, etc. I have been having some mental health issues and so has everyone else. We are one big crazy, nerd family.

level 1

Accountant, IT, coding, I’m sure there’s many more!
