Hi @sandysnow1 , Try running the diagnostics for the washer and check for any error codes. The error code meanings are on the pages following the linked page Does it take a long time to fill when using the cold water only? Just wondering that if it does, there may be a problem with the cold water inlet valve. The water supply from this valve also passes through the softener dispenser. The supplier linked is an example only to show where the valve is located, how much it may cost to replace if faulty and the manufacturer’s part number. If it is the problem search online using the manufacturer’s part number only to get results for suppliers that may suit you better. Was this answer helpful? Score 1
koking Rep: 1 4 Cleaning is required. Remove the tray and note the arrangement of trays, remove each tray and clean thoroughly. especially in the round tube fillers. The cap covering these can be gummed up. dilute softener as it is quite thick https://youtu.be/ZUavbjJCs2M Was this answer helpful? Score 0

https://youtu.be/43gLRQuDfsA Finally solved problem by using this YouTube video. Using the interdental brush to clean the water dispenser hole was the trick. So glad this worked and no major repair bill. Less then $10 for the bottle brush and the interdental brushes. Was this answer helpful? Score 0 Long story but after taking the cover off of my LG WM5000HWA, I have nailed down a leak (underneath) to be that the fabric softener dispenser will not drain and thus overflows. I have cleaned it many times with hot water/vinegar/etc. and that does drain when I open the little tub drain hose at the bottom left. However, it will not drain during a cycle - at all! I did find out that the plastic tab holding the dispenser up at the right was broken. But even when I held it up during the rinse cycle with water filling, it would not drain -- at all! Note this is used to fill the tub for the rinse cycle and so it is about a pail full of water that goes through this! Is there some signal that is supposed to be sent to open it during the rinse cycle, and perhaps that signal is not being sent? We have had a lot of issues with this washer, so this is not a shocker. It is not even 5 years old yet. Thanks!

is a Home Appliance expert and author of this help library article. Please leave him feedback below about the page. *Required question Thank you for your feedback! Why is my fabric softener not draining?Check the inlet hose screens to see if there are any blockages. If the washing machine does not have enough water pressure, the fabric softener will not drain. To check the screens, turn the water off with the water valves. Remove the hot and cold water hoses from the back of the washing machine.
Why is my fabric softener drawer full of water? What causes water to be left? The tube at the back of the softener compartment often gets blocked by the fabric softener itself. If you take out the dispenser drawer and take off the cap or device, you can give the whole thing a good clean out.
How do I unclog my fabric softener dispenser?Set the dispenser in a bucket or wash tub. Add enough warm water to cover the dispenser. Mix in a tablespoon or two of liquid laundry soap, swirling it into the water with your hand. Allow the dispenser to soak for 10 minutes or so, touching the fabric softener buildup to see if it has loosened.
