5.0 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly for a 2014 Chevy Sonic This is a great product if your buttons fell out on your original fob like mine did.Getting the little circuit board out of the original key fob was an absolute nightmare that took about 45 minutes of cursing a bit of blood and watching a guy on YouTube rip one open in about 30 seconds 20 times in frustration BUT once I did get it out moving everything (including my original key, no issues there either) was a breeze and took about 20 seconds. Just be sure to “wind” your key so that it has the spring tension needed to actually deploy.Buy with confidence and I hope you have better luck than me getting your old fob open. Images in this review Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2022 The original key does not fit into the new key fob. The spring & key are different between the original and new fobs. I will need to get the new blank key cut so that the new fob will be able to fit the ignition. I could force the original in, but then it will not flip in and out like it should. Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2022 The product is well made but the internal molds and notches do not accommodate the original OEM key for my 2012 Chevy Sonic. Does not allow it to lock closed and spring open because
the molding for the key is noticeably different internally. The electronics work fine. Only solution I am finding is to have the blank key cut to allow the key function to work properly. Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2022 Being difficult to open makes it rather challenging to even use, I'd say. It sits on the counter waiting for me to care to (or be forced to) mess with it again. Still works perfectly though. How do I open my Chevy key fob?Learn how here:. Gently insert a flathead screwdriver into the small slot on the side of the key fob. Twist it to open the key fob.. Before you remove the battery, make note of which direction the positive and negative sides face. ... . Press the key fob back together, and enjoy your remote start capabilities!. |
