I prefer double cleansing as the only method of removing makeup and follow it every single day, even on the days when I am not wearing any makeup. But, I know, using cleansing balm/oil isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Those who don’t wear much makeup or those who don’t wear any makeup at all, a micellar water is a good option as a first cleanse. Do you need micellar water even when not using makeup?I assume you did apply some skincare in the morning ~ moisturizer and sunscreen. Some of you might’ve added powder or some light makeup on the top of it. Now, during the entire day dust, pollution particles get deposited on your skin. Your skin also produces sebum (read oil) and it helps in attracting the grime even more. You definitely don’t want to go to bed with an untidy face like this. Hence, comes into picture Micellar water. A micellar water will remove all the dirt, grime, sebum, your sunscreen & light makeup and the remaining traces will be taken care of by the cleanse/facewash. How does Garnier Vitamin C Micellar Cleansing Water work?It contains Micelles which are nothing but lipid molecules that arrange themselves in a spherical form in aqueous solutions. Imagine an oil drop surrounded by a layer of water (call it one molecule) and then a solution made up of such multiple molecules. That solution is nothing but micellar water. Because it has both oil and aqueous particles, it helps in removing makeup/skincare effectively. Just facewash and water will not able to remove oil based components of makeup and skincare alone. This is also one more reason to use micellar water to use as a first cleanse. Added Vitamin C is a bonus which will further aid in skin brightening and impart a healthy glow. How to use?Shake the bottle and pour some on a cotton pad. Then swipe across the face focusing on eyes and lips as well. Don’t be too harsh but firmly swipe across entire face to remove all dirt and grime. You’ll have to go over multiple times if you are wearing mascara and matte lipstick. Then wash your face with a facewash. This method is called double cleansing and it will make sure there’s no traces of dirt or makeup left before you sleep. Let the skin be itself when going to bed. Don’t forget to apply your skincare after washing your face. Double cleanse means using 2 cleansers ~ first an oil based which will melt away all makeup and skincare & second water based which will take care of any traces left. Here micellar water is your first cleanse and facewash will be your second cleanse. My verdict on Garnier Vitamin C Micellar Cleansing Water:This is a good option for beginners for both ~ those who are not much into makeup and those who are beginning to follow a skincare routine. That “one swipe’ claim is a bit exaggerated but it does its job pretty well. On days I haven’t done much makeup, I reach out to it as my first cleanse. I usually am a cleansing balm/oil person but I do use other makeup removers once in a while. This didn’t irritate my eyes or cause stinging effect. There was no irritation or sensitization as well. The fact that there’s no added fragrance and alcohol makes it suitable for people having sensitive skin as well. As seen in the pictures below, Garnier Vitamin C Micellar Cleansing Water did remove waterproof liner and matte lipstick in a couple swipes but it failed to get rid of that eyeshadow crayon (from Kiro beauty) ~ the middle one. I managed to remove it with a lot of pressure and multiple swipes. We aren’t supposed to apply that much pressure on the eyes. Pros:
