Cold war zombies chronicles 2 release date

Rumors for Zombies Chronicles 2 have been rampant ever since the release of Zombies Chronicles during Black Ops 3 in 2017. However, since that release, there has been no official mention or hints that Zombies Chronicles 2 is in development.

Zombies Chronicles contained eight remastered zombies map, which included Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Shi No Numa, Kino der Toten, Ascension, Shangri-La, Moon, and Origins.

At the time of its release, maps such as Buried, Call of The Dead, and Farm were neglected, leading to a community frenzy with speculation and rumors swirling that a Zombies Chronicles 2 is in development.

Where is Zombies Chronicles 2?

According to sources, Zombies Chronicles 2 has been in development for several years and the majority of the maps have been completed. This information was presented a couple of months ago when a rumor circulated on the internet that the Berlin zombies map, which we now know is called Mauer Det Toten was going to be the last zombies map for Black Ops Cold War. I publically shot down those rumors and stated one more map is to come and that Zombies Chronicles 2 maps are ready to go, whenever they are needed.

That information still stands today, with Treyarch and Activision not pulling the trigger on Zombies Chronicles 2 until it's needed. Despite the community believing that Black Ops Cold War hasn't done well for Activision, that isn't the case.

Unfortunately, this means that zombies fans might need to wait for that little bit longer for the remasters.

Vanguard Could Release Zombies Chronicles 2

This year's annual Call of Duty title, dubbed Call of Duty Vanguard is to take players back to a "setting that our fans know and love" says Activision, with that setting being World War 2.

It seems that for the first time in a long time, the Call of Duty hype train has slowed down, with fans looking for something a little more exciting than a WW2 title. The concerns are not only felt by the community either, with several analysts during Activision's Q2 earnings call asking about the future of Call of Duty and how confident they are in this year's annual release.

Although Activision was positive about Call of Duty Vanguard and its Warzone integration, it's clear that Activision has several cards up its sleeve to boost player numbers and revenue if they were to fall. Zombies Chronicles 2 is a huge asset for the publisher to have for the Call of Duty franchise and unfortunately, I think it's going to take Vanguard to release it.

Activision and Sledgehammer Games has its work cut out this year with Vanguard, with many fans already dismissing that they won't be buying this annual release.

Although, despite the murmuring, Vanguard will inevitably sell millions of copies and will almost certainly outsell Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042. However, Activision's goal is to not only sell copies but to keep those players engaged and to keep on spending. That's why Zombies Chronicles 2 is likely to release sometime in mid-2022.

It's also unlikely that Zombies Chronicles 2 will be free to play too, as the potential for a big payday would be huge for such a large amount of downloadable content.

The main reason behind my speculation is simple, Vanguard isn't going to be a Call of Duty title that people rave about when it releases. Yes, it will sell millions of copies, but I believe it will be a game that people buy and not engage with for a long period of time. Battlefield 2042, Halo Infinite, and even Splitgate all have the potential to be massive games heading into 2022, and Activision knows it.

With Zombies Chronicles on the horizon, we wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to thank the Zombies community for everything that they’ve done over the years. Your feedback, your videos, your commentary, your theories – we’ve enjoyed every minute of it, thank you!

From the outside looking in, Call of Duty Zombies is a simple game mode that tasks players with surviving until the highest round possible. For those that have actually spent time with the mode, though, it is clear just how complex it really is. Well-hidden Easter eggs and side quests provide hours of content on each map, with complex stories told that span multiple games and cover everything from mythology to alternate dimensions.

Over the years, there have been many Call of Duty Zombies maps released, and not all of the Easter eggs, modes, and weapons that Treyarch initially plan out make the cut. Over the years, dataminers have found some incredibly interesting cut content from the various CoD Zombies modes, and some of it would have been a lot of fun to experience. Fortunately, if the long-rumored Zombies Chronicles 2 actually happens, Treyarch would have a chance to restore some of this content.

Cut Call of Duty Zombies Content Treyarch Should Bring Back

If a Zombies Chronicles 2 ever became a reality, the one map fans would be most interested to see again is TranZit. Since this map was held back by the technology of the PS3 and Xbox 360, Treyarch’s ambitious plans could not be realized. Not only did this result in an ugly map covered by fog, as it was the only way to get the open world-like play space to run properly, but some interesting content had to be cut as well.

If TranZit got remade, Treyarch could restore this cut content, which would include the Power Station Survival map. All of TranZit’s other points of interest received smaller, separate maps, with Bus Depot, Farm, and Town being round-based and Diner hosting the Turned game mode. With a remake of TranZit, players could finally get a standalone version of Power Station, adding a bit of replayability. Beyond that, Diner could get its own Survival map as well.

TranZit also had a scrapped game mode in the form of Race that would be interesting to see in action. Players would need to run through the map while dodging the undead, tossing Richtofen’s severed head through hoops to score points. Another cut game mode was called Meat and would see players competing to see which team could hold on to a piece of meat for longer, with said meat attracting Zombies and making it harder to survive. Considering how Treyarch was experimenting with limited time modes in Black Ops Cold War Zombies, it clearly still has interest in testing out other styles of play, so bringing back Race and Meat could be worthwhile.

There is plenty of other scrapped content from TranZit that could be restored, such as the craftable lantern to ward off Denizens, the second bus route, the daytime version of the map, and scrapped areas like the motel. Zombies Chronicles 2 would surely bring back other maps, though, which would provide more opportunities to restore scrapped content. For example, if Call of the Dead were to return, the Butcher could be a replacement for George Romero. Since the real George Romero has died, shooting a zombified version would be in poor taste, so swapping out his model with this Zombie type that essentially worked the same way would be ideal.

Really, the sky is the limit for Treyarch when it comes to giving cut content a second chance. Ascension’s scrapped Chainsaw weapon could be restored, Mob of the Dead’s individual character quests could be added if the mobster crew was brought back, and so much more. While remaking maps almost exactly as they were before worked well in the first Zombies Chronicles, Treyarch still snuck in some new Easter eggs. With Zombies Chronicles 2, the developer should aim to restore its original vision for certain maps, adding in the cut content that the community has been talking about for years.

Will there be a zombie chronicles 2 for Cold War?

At the time of its release, maps such as Buried, Call of The Dead, and Farm were neglected, leading to a community frenzy with speculation and rumors swirling that a Zombies Chronicles 2 is in development. Year after year the rumors and hype continued to build, but ultimately, Zombies Chronicles 2 never came.

Will there be more Zombies maps in Cold War 2022?

Many still prefer Cold War Zombies, so players were hoping to see more maps and content added over the course of 2022. It appears this won't be the case after Treyarch confirmed that Black Ops Cold War Zombies won't receive any more maps as they continue to focus on Vanguard Zombies.
