Why are Zenni frames so cheap?

American Classics Carter frames. Not too small, but not BCG size. The fit is good - I've got a large, but narrow head, and they do a decent job of staying on my face. I put a little Goon Tape on the temples and bridge so they don't slide when I sweat at work or on the range.

They were about $65, and I kinda dig the blue accents.

Framless. I never liked this style until I tried them on. I think I look much better without glasses and it makes them blend in and disappear much more.

The downside is they are very fragile. I was warned that they will not hold up to any abuse and I believe it.

I used to have transitions, but they were way too slow to lighten back up indoors or in a darkened area.

Two extremes - either small, frameless or full on machinists glasses (clear aviators).

Depends on how wide of a FOV I need.

Daily is small frameless, weekends I typically wear the clear aviators.

Oakley with transition for glasses. Oakley Rx sunglasses. Ballistic glasses...I forget, but I wanted to go with WileyX, then couldn't find anything I liked. Uvex, maybe? I get them in a week.
ETA: Actually, got them today. Uvex.

I have two pair of Oakley half jacket frames I've had for 20+ years. One tinted, one clear. Indoors I usually wear Silhouette titanium frameless.

I stopped buying the delicate Flexon frames due to the cost to repair and long lead time to get temple pieces that are the correct length. They were great otherwise. I think I wore out or destroyed four frames over 15 years.

Currently using the "Thomas" frame from eyebuydirect. Got photochromic amber lenses but I think I might splurge and get an Oakley frame with transition lenses next time - when I can afford that.

Have a set of Wiley X Boss frames with facial seal for safety glasses when needed, same deal on the lenses.

Oakley Socket 5.5 I like them and they are less fragile than my last pair.

The lenses I got from target suck ass though. My previous pair from Sears were 2 years old and have one minor scratch. I have had these target lenses for less than 3 months and they are tore up. I havent treated them any different than the others.

The cheapest frames I can find on Zenni, bought by the dozen. Works out to like $8 a pair, shipped.

They look a bit nerdy, but fuck it. I hate scratched lenses and looking for lost glasses. I just have a pile of brand new frames ready to go, and I toss them if they get scratched or grab another pair if I can't find the one I was wearing last night. There's nothing like brand new lenses, and I have that at least once a month. I'm cool looking like a tool in exchange.

I like to have lots of different pairs of glasses so that I have options.

I did pick up the exact glasses from Sicario, but they are essentially costume glasses. I still had prescriptions made though.

My optical plan allows me two pairs a year and my vision hasn't changed in years so I have a bunch, my favorite are the Perry Ellis PE326 in Gray Fade. For dress up occasions I have pair of Alberto Romani semi rimless frames. Then I have a few cheaper frames that were free on the plan.

Why are Zenni frames so cheap?

Why are Zenni Optical glasses so cheap? There are various reasons why Zenni Optical can keep the cost of its eyeglasses low. Zenni glasses are made at a dedicated factory and shipped directly to the consumer. Also, because Zenni sells its glasses online, they don't pay for brick-and-mortar retail space.

Are Zenni glasses low quality?

“The quality is great and the prices are even better!” During the initial 30-day period, broken frames can be replaced at no charge. Additionally, while replacement nose pads and nose pad screws for rimless frames are offered for the life of the glasses, Zenni does not offer repair services.
