Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson Texas, US. Her father Abraham Quintanilla is a Mexican-American musician while her mother Marcella Samora had Cherokee ancestry.
Selena was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. As the family was itself from a music background, it gave a great deal of opportunity to Selena to focus on her music career.
The family moved to Corpus Christi in 1981 & created the famous band Selena y Los Dinos which became a very famous American Tejano band. Selena was taken out of school in the eighth grade to work on her music career.
After the formation of the band, in 1989 Chris Pérez joined the band as a guitarist. Selena & Chris fell in love with each other & wanted to marry each other but Selena’s father disagreed.
As a result of the relation, Chris was fired from the band. Due to the disagreement of Abraham Quintanilla, Selena & Chris eloped in 1992. Eventually, Abraham accepted the relationship & allowed Chris back in the band.

Selena’s net worth was about $5 Million at the time of her death which is a very handsome amount regarding her early age. The house is situated west of Downtown Corpus Christi, Texas within 10 minutes of drive.
The mansion is spread over 1,200 square feet & was regarded as very normal. The house has 4 bedrooms & four baths with quite a sophisticated & minimalistic design.

Career
Selena wanted to become an English singer but she was forced by her father to pursue Tejano-style music. The traditional Tejano music was largely famous & popular amongst Mexicans who lived in the US.
Selena released several albums of Tejano music & even signed with EMI Latin Records. Selena released four albums with EMI & sold millions of records.

Death

On 31 March 1995, Selena was shot by Yolanda Saldívar in a motel in Corpus Christi. Yolanda who claimed to be Selena’s biggest admirer had been embezzling money from the hard work of the Quintanilla family. Selena died on her way to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital due to fatal damage in her artery due to the gunshot.
