Sara Bee Moscato | Kosher Moscato Wine – Trader Joe’s Wine

I have received quite a few e-mails for Kosher wine recommendations lately, so I will make an effort to include a few more Kosher wine reviews when possible. Taking into consideration the surging popularity of Moscato wine at the moment, I thought it might make sense to try out an affordable Kosher Moscato wine option. Meeting both requirements is the Sara Bee Moscato, economically priced at just under $6 in the Trader Joe’s Wine Section.

At 5.5% ABV, I fully expect that the Sara Bee Moscato will fall on the sweeter side of the spectrum (during fermentation, yeasts convert alcohol to sugar, so a higher alcohol rating translates to lower sugar levels). While sweet wines aren’t exactly my cup of tea, my goal is to help readers determine if this is indeed a Moscato Kosher wine bargain or one to avoid altogether.

As evidenced in my recent Guide to Moscato Wine article some Moscato wines are certainly better made than others – check it out here!

Appearance: Pours a light golden-yellow

Nose: The perfumed and floral nose reveals aromas of sweet elderflower, pear and lychee underscored by a honey-lime citrus.

On the palate:The Sara Bee Moscato boasts an effusive, rich profile bursting with character. Despite being quite sweet, the sweetness seems to originate from the richness of the fruit versus a sugary-sweetness. Flavors of pear and exotic lychee are well-balanced by elderflower and an undercurrent of lime-citrus in a lightly-sparkling style. Very harmonious and surprisingly well-made.

Value Proposition | Sara Bee Moscato – Trader Joe’s Wine

Ringing in at only 5.5% ABV, I was expecting the Sara Bee Moscato to stumble across my palate with the kind of aggressive, overwhelming sweetness exhibited by the Barefoot Moscato and Bartenura Moscato – yet that wasn’t the case at all.

Instead, this Trader Joe’s exclusive pleasantly surprised me with complex floral nuances and rich fruit brought to life by a zesty effervescence. The Sara Bee Moscato is an excellent value at under $6, and a great option for those looking for a Kosher option in the sweet wine category.

Here's a Kosher, sweet white wine from Puglia that opens with playful aromas of spring flower, honeysuckle, almond blossom and lemon mousse. The wine feels and tastes similar to Moscato d'Asti, but is a hair sweeter.
