When is spiderman far from home coming to disney plus

Starting this week, Disney+ users in the U.K. will be able to watch five Spider-Man films from all three franchises on the streaming platform.

Fans of the franchise will be able to have a binge-fest and relive the iconic Spider-Man portrayals from Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland in Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Homecoming on Disney+ starting on Friday.

This is the beginning of a list of Sony’s film catalogue that will soon be joining the Disney+ platform. Just earlier this week, Spider-Man: No Way Home was announced to have a re-release in cinemas with a new extended version. According to Marvel, the success of the film has warranted a release of No Way Home: The More Fun Stuff Version, an extended film that will hit theaters starting on September 2 in the U.S. and Canada. The blockbuster No Way Home was a global hit, smashing box office records and making $1.9 billion USD around the world.

The five Spider-Man films are making its way to Disney+ on June 17.

In other entertainment news, Netflix has unveiled first-look images at Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 2.

The Spider-Man franchise landing on Disney Plus is great news for fans, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe's on-demand selection is still frustratingly incomplete due to the absence of several top titles

Tom Holland stars as the titular hero in comic book movie reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming

Fans of Spider-Man will feel their 'spidey' senses tingling as their hero’s movies are finally swinging onto Disney Plus – but the hugely popular Spider-Man: No Way Home is not among them.

Joining the streaming service on Friday (June 17) are Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) and Spider-Man Homecoming (2014).

Also oddly missing from the webtastic line-up are Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

An expanded version of the last instalment - Spider-Man: No Way Home – is getting a re-release at US cinemas on September 2, with an announcement expected soon about a UK date.

This 'more fun version' of the phenomenally successful Marvel movie, starring Tom Holland, is set to include deleted scenes from the original theatrical release as well as a whole host of other surprises.

No Way Home was released last year, raking in £1.5billion at the global box office, becoming the first to hit the $1bn mark (£746.4m) since 2019.

An anomaly among the Marvel films, the Spider-Man franchise is owned by Sony Pictures - so fans thought they’d never see their web-slinging hero land on Disney Plus.

However the Marvel Cinematic Universe (an on-screen story-line shared between a myriad of superheroes) - is still frustratingly incomplete on the streaming platform, particularly for those wishing to watch the enormous saga in order.

Some of the best - and worst - superhero movies ever made are coming to Disney Plus as Spider-Man finally swings onto the House Of Mouse's subscription service.

The Spider-Man movies have remained a notable absence on Disney Plus since the service's launch. This is, of course, mostly down to the fact that Sony still owns the movie rights to the wall-crawler. Even so, given Tom Holland's Spidey is very much of the MCU, it's always felt a little odd that his solo adventures have remained unavailable to watch alongside his Avengers buddies.

The good news is that all three generations of Spider-Man are making their way to Disney Plus as of June 17, with just a few omissions.

The original Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 directed by Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are both accounted for, but there's no mention of the divisive Spider-Man 3. I'm not sure who's losing sleep over that particular stinker not being on Disney Plus, but it feels odd not to have the entire Raimi trilogy on there.

Speaking of incomplete trilogies, both of Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man movies will be available. Rewatch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and wonder why on Earth people are still asking for a third movie.

Finally, Tom Holland's first MCU solo movie - Spider-Man: Homecoming - will be joining the service. Far From Home and No Way Home are not coming, unfortunately, and there's currently no word on when they will arrive on Disney Plus. Given that Sony has an exclusive deal with Netflix, I'd imagine it'll be a while until the most recent Spidey flick makes its way to Disney Plus. For now, your MCU rewatches are doomed to involve multiple subscription services.

Disney secured a deal with Sony in April to stream some catalog Spider-Man movies as well as Sony movies released in theaters between 2022 and 2026. First of all, those 2022-2026 theatrical releases won't make it onto Disney Plus for many, many months; they'll actually be exclusively on Netflix first.
