I am one of those consumers who got addled by all the terminology used by the marketing departments of display manufacturers. There's one or two of you still out there.

This version of the DVD (The Day After Tomorrow) replaces my previous DVD which was the Fullscreen version. Fullscreen refers to (I think) old fashioned TV aspect known as 3:4, which is basically a square. Modern displays are rectangular, the aspect ratio is something like 16:9, which allows a panoramic viewing area.

Modern movies are made to display in large-ish panoramic views, so you need the WIDESCREEN version of a DVD. Here's the rule:

Fullscreen DVD --> 3:4 (Old TV square viewing area)
Widescreen DVD-->16:9 (Modern panoramic viewing area)
