Star trek fleet command eclipse armada locations

Armada Targets are powerful opponents that can only be attacked via Armadas - they are too tough to be defeated by standard attacks. They can be found in certain star systems in Federation, Klingon, Romulan and neutral space.

An Alliance can only have one active Armada attack against a given Armada Target at once, but it can have active Armada attacks against several different hostile targets at the same time.

Armada Hostiles belonging to the Federation, Klingon or Romulan factions count as members of that faction for Research, Officer and Ship abilities. Defeating them would grant Faction Point Rewards, but unlike normal hostiles, there is no Faction Point penalty.

Summary

Armadas have been out for a while yet the understanding behind them is still limited. Bigger armadas equal bigger rewards, lets talk about how to get there.

Overview

What are Armadas?:

In STFC armadas are fights that up to 7 members of your alliance can join and fight these massive targets,  At current there are two types Normal Armadas and Borg Armadas.

Up to 7 what controls that?:

The armada control center building is responsible for how many people who can join your armadas and how much of damage bonus is applied. The higher level the building the more people who can join. You need to build the Armada Control Center before you are able to start armadas but you do not need it to be able to join armadas launched by other players.

  • Level 1-9: 2 Player Armadas
  • Level 10-19: 3 Player Armadas
  • Level 20-29: 4 Player Armadas
  • Level 30-38: 5 Player Armadas
  • Level 39-49: 6 Player Armadas
  • Level 50: 7 Player Armadas

Armadas Types

There are currently 3 types of "Normal" Armadas in the game, Uncommon, Rare and Epic. I use the term "Normal" because during a recent event there were Borg Armadas which while followed Armada mechanics were different in tactics which is covered in the Borg Armada Guide. There are exchange Armadas that use a new ship called the Stella for maximum rewards which will also be covered in a separate guide. Armada targets cannot be attacked like normal hostiles they must be defeated using an Armada. Launching an Armada requires Armada Directives that correspond to their rarity and not the ability to find them in systems. In fact many times it's easier to find Rare and Epic Armadas over Uncommon.

Uncommon Armada:

  • Most common armada type
  • Requires 100 Uncommon Armada Directives

Rare Armada:

  • Much more Rare then Uncommon to launch
  • Requires 200 Rare Armada Directives

Epic Armada:

  • Rarest type of Armada to launch.
  • Requires 500 Epic Armada Directives

Getting Armada Directives:

The only reliable way to get Armada Directives on a consistent bases in the game is though the Alliance Store and though your Daily Goals. The Alliance Store allows you to buy enough Directives for 1 Uncommon Armada a week. Though completing your daily goals you gain 15 Armada Directives a day (105 a week). This means that you can gain enough Directives to do two Armadas a week. Rare Directives are able to be obtained through opening the Uncommon Armada Pack In the Alliance Store.

Armadas Mechanics

Like hostiles each faction has armadas in their respective space and neutral armadas exist in neutral systems. Each type has its own strength and weakness.

  • Federation = Explorers, stronger vs Interceptors and Weak to Battleships.
  • Klingon = Interceptors, stronger to Battleships but weaker to Explorers.
  • Romulan = Battleships, stronger to explorers but weaker to Interceptors.
  • Independent = Equal attack and defense to all ships (Like Surveys)

Armada Damage:

Armadas spread the damage they do per round across all the ships in the armada randomly. The more ships in the armada (Alive) the less damage each of the ships takes per round (Generally). I say generally because who the armada shoots with each shot is random, it's possible to get shot 10 times in a row and then not shot again for 9 rounds.

Armada Logs Officers Bug:

When looking at the logs of an armada it may look like your officers abilities are not triggering. This is a known display bug, only the first (Most powerful) officer will trigger when displayed in the logs. If everyone in the armada has spock only the first will show but all the officers are indeed working.

Rough Estimate Power Needs:

A good idea of power needs for an armada is much like an empty station ~= 50% of its power. So for a 5 million power armada your total power should be around 2.5 million. Crew setups are very important at determining the outcome of armadas, as your crews improve you can push that ratio down.

Disabled Officers and Ship Abilities

As mentioned earlier having the right crew on your ship during an armada can mean the difference between an easy win and certain defeat. Even one ship with the wrong crew can have a big impact on the results. (Upcoming Blog post about this). Scopley disabled several officers and ship abilities which means they will not work vs an armada target and should never be on your bridge.

"Due to their size and power, Armada Targets are not affected by the following research bonuses and abilities:"

Research:

  • Combat - Defensive Tactics

Ships:

  • B'Rel Class - Cloaking System
  • Gladius Class - Secret Weapon

Officers:

  • Grace Chen - Cloaking System
  • T'Lann - Objective Defense
  • Tal - Resistance
  • Mara - Wife of Dahar
  • Qa'ug - Excel under Pressure
  • Severus - Spreading Fire
  • Yuki Sulu - Disrupting Field
  • John Harrison - Sabotage
  • Marlena Moreau - No Fear
  • Cadet Nyota Uhura - Scan the Enemy
  • Vixis - Fake Communiques
  • D'joaki - Shatter Defenses
  • Chang - Dogs of War

Basic Armada Crewing

In several other articles we touched on the versatility of the Morale crew, in armadas it does not disappoint. Armadas are generally very long fights in number of rounds as such having the shield regeneration of Spock to absorb more damage is a big bonus as it extends the number of rounds and how long you absorb damage and dish it out. The Kirk and Spock combo leverages the hidden ability of Morale to increase penetration with the shield regeneration of Spock to increase the damage that is applied to the Armada Target while reducing damage to the hull of your ship by keeping the shields up longer. For the basic setup I will give provide 2 crews and these setups are ship agnostic, we will get into more complicated and ship specific setups later.

Crew #1 (The weaker ships 3 max)

  • Captain: Bones
  • Officers: Spock, Kirk
  • Why: Bones is the hidden gem of the Morale crew, his captain ability increases all the officer abilities including his own! This takes a max spock from 750% of defense up to 1040%, better yet each time the ship gets hit he increases the defense of the officers on the bridge which means more shield regen. This keeps the smaller ships alive longer to keep taking damage and the entire armada alive for more rounds.

Crew #2 (Bigger Ships)

  • Captain: Kirk
  • Officers: Decius, Spock
  • Why: We already covered the Spock-Kirk combo above, Decius increases the damage of the ship every time its hit and since Armadas are longer fights the number of time its hit is A LOT... In longer Armada fights its possible to see the damage of the ships running Decius to double by the end of the fight. The more damage applied = the less number of round = less damage taken = win.

This crew setup is truly the basic setup in which can be used on any ship, the good thing about that is no matter what you can push yourself into higher armadas with a 1 size fits all setup... To elevate into the next tier we will move into the Intermediate setup but not before we talk about the other 2 hidden abilities.

Hull Breach and Burning

Hull Breach:

Hull Breach applies to armadas like it does to normal combat but unlike normal combat everyone in the armada bennifits from its hidden ability. This means that while the armada target has a Hull Breach every ship that delivers a critical hit does increased damage! Paired with a Khan crew you can see massive damage in these long fights!

Burning:

Burnings hidden ability is also one of the abilities that applies to armada targets every round the target is burning its hull is reduced by 1%. Keep in mind this effect can only happen once so having multiple burning pilots does not stack. However every pilot who has a crew that benefits from a single burn.

How do you do armadas in Star Trek Fleet Command?

To start an Armada attack, you need the Armada Control Center building in your station. Starting at level 23, this building can be unlocked through a new research node called 'Unlock Armada Control Center' in the Station research tree. This research uses a new resource, Armada Tactical Cores.

How do I get Exchange Armada directives?

Armada Directives Are used to start Armadas. Players can get more from the Alliance Store, by completing Daily Goal milestones, and by upgrading the Armada Control Center.

How do you get Eclipse security codes?

Once traversing through the new Outlaws loop, Kill eclipse hostiles to gain Eclipse Security Codes which can be spent in the faction store and mine data, defeat hostiles and armadas in the new Rogue and Exchange systems to gain reputation and resources that can be spent in the faction store.

How do you get the Armada tactical core?

You have to participate in armadas being called by your alliance members. You will collect armada rewards, which you can use in the alliance store to get tactical cores. Tactical cores are found in your alliance store. The alliance field is found at the bottom left of the page.
