Mobile Check Deposit allows you to take a picture of a check to make deposits to your First Service account using your iPhone, iPad or Android device. Save a trip to the credit union by depositing your checks with your smartphone or tablet by using our free First Service FCU Mobile App with Mobile Check Deposit.  Mobile Check Deposit is offered by First Service with no service charge!*

Eligibility Requirements

  • Your account must be in good standing and open for at least 90 days
  • You must be enrolled in FirstCU Online Account Access

Check Deposit Guidelines

You can only deposit checks into accounts held by the person that the check is made payable.  Mobile Check Deposit is not available for foreign items, savings bonds, or money orders.

  • Up to 2 deposits per day for a total of $2,500 may be deposited.
  • Monthly maximum deposit limit of 10 deposits for a total of $10,000.
  • Checks must be endorsed by all payees on the back and must include “For Mobile Deposit at FirstCU.”
  • Enter the check amount that matches the written amount on the check.
  • Take photo in a well-lit area; a solid, dark background works best.
  • Ensure all check corners are in the view finder and hold phone flat.
  • Ensure the MICR line is readable (string of numbers on the bottom of the check).
  • You will receive a confirmation message via e-mail on the same day deposit is made.
  • Once the check is approved, hold the original check for 7 days and then securely destroy.

Funds Availability

  • All mobile check deposits are subject to review and approval.
  • Standard check holds may apply.
  • Check the status of deposits in your online deposit history.
  • Funds deposited before 3:00 pm on a normal business day will generally be available on the fifth business day after the deposit.
  • Funds deposited after 3:00 pm on a normal business day, or on a weekend or holiday, will generally be processed the following business day  with availability on the fifth day following processing.
  • All deposits are subject to review and funds from your deposit may not be available for immediate withdrawal.

*If an item you transmit for deposit is dishonored, rejected or otherwise returned unpaid, you agree that we may charge back the amount of the return to the account the check was originally deposited to; and you may be assessed a returned deposit item fee.

Mobile Deposit

Mobile Deposit is a tool designed to make it easy and convenient to deposit checks anywhere, anytime from your camera enabled (Android or iPhone) smartphone or iPad into your checking account. To get started, download Campbell Federal Credit Union’s Mobile Banking App today from the iTunes store or the Google Play store.

Mobile deposit will be automatically enabled in your mobile application based on your account meeting specific criteria.*

Steps to Deposit a Check

  • Make sure the name that the check is made out to is on the account.
  • Endorse the check with your signature, account # and the words “For mobile deposit only”.
  • Open the Campbell Federal Credit Union Mobile Banking App.
  • Select “Deposit”.
  • Select “Deposit Check”.
  • Select the account the check is to be deposited into.
  • Enter the amount of the check you wish to deposit.
  • Take a picture of the front of the check.
  • Take a picture of the back of the check.
  • Confirm and submit the deposit.
  • Temporarily store the original check in a safe place. See the “Rules and Deposit Timing” information below to find out what happens next and what you should do with your check once you have confirmed your deposit has been delivered.

Rules and Deposit Timing (all times mentioned are Eastern Standard Time)

  • After you successfully deposit a check its status will be “Pending” until it is reviewed.
  • If your check cannot be accepted, its status will change to “Failed”. You may contact the credit union by calling 800-257-5354 or 856-486-3250.
  • If your check is processing, its status is changed temporarily to “Under Review”.
  • Our daily cutoff time for accepting Mobile Deposits is 2pm Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Deposit items that we receive after 2:00pm, or on non-business days, will be processed on the next business day (Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays).
  • If your check is accepted before our daily cutoff time of 2:00pm, it will usually be deposited into your account between 4:00pm and 6:00pm that day (the status of your deposit will change to “Accepted”).
  • When your check is deposited into your account, the first $200 of your deposit will be made available to you by 5pm that day. The remainder will be placed on hold for up to 2 business days. Longer holds may apply in certain situations. (See Funds Availability Disclosure)
  • Once the status of your deposit changes to “Accepted” please safely destroy the paper check! You will be able to view a legal image of your check in Mobile Banking (under “Deposits”, then “View Deposit History”) and we will use the legal image for any further processing.

Most checks are eligible to be Mobile Deposited.  However, the following types of checks are not eligible for mobile deposit:

  • Checks payable to any person other than you.
  • Checks payable to you jointly with one or more other persons, unless deposited into an account in the name of all payees.
  • Checks that have been previously negotiated (including checks that may have been returned), remotely created, Sight Drafts, or checks more than 6 months old (stale dated).
  • Checks drawn on a financial institution located outside the United States or not in United States currency.
  • Insurance Claim Checks, Money Orders (Postal and Money Gram), Traveler’s Checks, Credit Card Cash Advance Checks.
  • Checks in excess of $3,000.

**Your account must be in good standing to use Mobile Deposit.  The Mobile Deposit service may be revoked at any time without notice.

How long does it take for a mobile deposit to go through safe credit union?

Remote Deposits The first $225 of a deposit of other checks will be available on the business day of deposit. The remaining funds will be available on the second business day after the date of deposit.

How soon are funds available after mobile deposit?

Unless a hold is placed, deposits on a business day before cutoff time will be processed that night and are generally available the next business day.

Does SAFE Federal Credit Union have mobile deposit?

Deposit your checks from the comfort of your home using your smartphone. This opens in a new window. Endorse the back of the check. Be sure to include: “For Mobile Deposit at SAFE Credit Union only” under your signature or, if available, check the box that reads “Check here if mobile deposit.”

Is mobile deposit available right away?

When is my money available? If you deposit on a business day before 9 pm PT, your money will generally be available the next day. If you deposit after 9 pm PT or on a weekend or holiday, we'll process the deposit on the next business day and your money will generally be available the day after that.
