Ps5 vs xbox series x exclusives reddit

Between Dolby Vision, VRR, BC, and Quick resume it has been a no brainer. This is my first Xbox, I've always been a Playstation guy. I got an Xbox for Game Pass and Starfield, only expecting to play those games kn the system.

Since then, I have gotten most multi Plat games on my PS5, which has been a mistake. The dualsense is nice, but a lot of 3rd party titles don't use it. I wish I would've bought Tales of Arise and Dying Light 2 on Xbox due to VRR. Not only that, the emphasis on BC is a huge plus. So many old games I have on Playstation run at 30 FPS, but are 60 on Xbox now like the Ezio collection, Sleeping Dogs, and Yakuza 6.

Anyways, I was just wondering for all of you that have both where do you get your games? My PS5 will always be my exclusive machine, but the coil whine drives me insane when I'm playing MLB the show on mute and listening to a podcast. The Xbox is seriously silent. Kudos to the Microsoft engineering team.

This sub is probably the one with the most experience about next gens xbox so I hope I can get some insight on it.

How good does the series s compare to the x? Can it last the entire ps5/series x generation or does it "struggle" with some games already?

I gave up on the ps5 because it's impossible to get and it costs at least 700 euros because they're sold in package deals. While the xbox even tho there is no market for it on my country I can get one everyday for the base 500 euros.

The main reason I havent switched already is because of all the playstation games I have and because of eso, I have like 50 days time on it on ps4 and they don't allow account transfer.

And I also prefere the possibility of the new xbox exclusive games (bethesda and blizzard) to any of the ps5 ones.

I have both and generally prefer my PS5.

I prefer the interface on the PS5, it just has the feeling of being more "next-gen". I also like the redesign of the controller (no longer too small for my giant freak hands). I also think the companion app for PS5 is much more friendly and feature rich, the xbox app just annoys me.

I also found it much easier to get working headphones for the PS5 (I have an Arctis wireless headset that is fantastic.... and a color match), the Series X was much more uncooperative (had to find an Arctis headset made specifically for the Series X/S, even tho the only apparent difference was the color scheme... nonsense).

If I had to pick one, it's PS5 all the way. As a PC gamer, I wouldn't even have bothered with the Series X, but I have a few friends who play on Xbox so it just makes that easier.

That's an interesting way of pitching it.

I'd have thought with both the XSX and PC having Gamepass, they have exactly the same games, which actually means there is no gain by buying an XSX, just stick to Gamepass on PC.

Meanwhile, while some PS5/Sony exclusives are coming to PC, not all are, and most won't until some time after their release on PS5. So Infact you gain those console exclusives that aren't coming to PC and get to play the ones that eventually will come to PC sooner, if you have a PS5.

Your comment seems very biased.

In terms of UI there was a study which compared the usability and for most actions you need less navigation on Xbox. The difference is quite significant.

In terms of exclusives we know that Sony has 28 projects in development of which 12 are live-service games. Microsoft currently has more than 50 projects in development of which only 11 are rumored to be live-service titles. Recently some Sony exclusives had issues (GT7, Destruction Allstars, Returnal) while Microsoft released games that were better rated than any recent Sony exclusive (Forza Horizon 5, Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2). Microsoft also was the highest rated publisher last year according to Metacritic. Upcoming Xbox exclusives this year are Scorn, Ark 2 & most likely Forza Motorsport 8. Avowed is possible too but more likely early 2023 - we'll know soon.

In terms of hardware, subscription & costs, Xbox has a clear advantage. It has a better specs (CPU +3%, GPU +19%) and offers 800GB instead of only 670GB of usable space. I play a lot and see no reason to buy a storage expansion but even if I had to pay $200 for another TB those costs are offset. For instance I paid only $120 for 3 years of Game Pass. 3 years of PS Plus Premium will cost you $360 for comparison. Also Game Pass' offerings are leagues above PS Plus Premium.

In terms of features, Xbox has a browser and supports emulators like Retroarch to play SEGA, Nintendo & Sony classics. In fact a Xbox plays significantly more PlayStation classics than a PS4/PS5 - literally thousands instead of a couple select ones. Xbox also offers 1440p output and an advanced VRR option that works with every game and has low framerate compensation which is missing on PS5 (VRR won't work below 48Hz on PS5). On top of that the backwards compatibility on Xbox is much better : more games, more often enhanced resolution or FPS boost, Auto-HDR, ansitropic filtering, etc.

However, the differences really are minimal in practice. As you can see, they are hardware wise basically the same exact things. The Xbox cpu is clocked a little higher, the PS5 has a little more memory and the Xbox has a little more graphical power.
