You will need to establish if this noise appears abruptly and if it can stop as it started. The alternator belt is a wearing part that is used to supply power to the secondary components of your Jeep Wrangler’s engine and although it is less important than the timing belt it can induce engine problem if it fails. This noise may be a symptom of a slackened belt, in which case the tensioner roller or its wear and tear may be responsible. In any case, verify the condition of your belt and its tension. If it causes this acceleration noise on Jeep Wrangler, go to your technician. Ma Jeep Wrangler makes whining noise when I accelerate:

I could hear it more when the doors are off and it seems to come from the driver side somewhere. I read somewhere that when the low brake indicator thingy gets hot it rubs on the rotor? never heard of such thing, but then again I am no mechanic. Can you hear it inside the Jeep? 06-09-2011, 03:39 AMJK Enthusiast Thread Starter

Why is my Jeep Wrangler making a whistling noise?Jeep Wrangler JLU and JK models that produce a high pitched noise can be attributed to any of the following components: Electronic Throttle Body. Slipping Belts. Failing Water Pump bearing.
Why is there a whistling sound when I accelerate? If the whistling sound in your car is most noticeable when you accelerate, the likely culprit is a vacuum leak. The system that controls the air flow between the mass air flow sensor and the engine pushes air through a hose. If the hose comes loose or is damaged it results in a whistling sound as air escapes.
Why is my jeep making a whining noise when I accelerate?A whining noise while accelerating it can causes by several things, including low levels of steering fluid, the steering pump, a leak in the pump, the alternator, wheel bearings, loose or worn belts, the transmission, and the exhaust.
Why does my car make a whistling noise when I press the gas?The sound you are hearing is air leaking across a damaged gasket or a warped sealing surface. With the throttle closed, or in deceleration mode, the manifold pressure is very low and if there is a leak anywhere in the induction system that should normally be sealed, you will hear the (very common) whistle.
