Piercingly loud, they mostly enjoy screeching in the early hours of the morning. I change the batteries they all scream at me, I do all the scheduled maintenance, they chirp, they scream, they laugh, their heads rotate 360 degrees projectile vomiting everywhere. I believe they must be cursed. I've banished them in the closet where they can think about what they've done and how they can be better. I wish it didn't have to be this way and that we could co-exist, but frankly I'd rather die in a fire than hear the cry of their people.

Our house was built in 2008 and the Kidde i12060 smoke detector was installed when it was built. It was very easy to replace the now old smoke detectors with this same model. It does not have some of the extras or newer technologies of some of the newer smoke detectors, but we have separate CO2 detectors, and feel safe using these. Plus, they were very price competitive.
They were easy to install as replacing the face plates was simply loosening the old face plate screws and swapping old for new. The power cable was also easy to switch.
The batteries are standard (not alkaline) so I marked them as average for my review. I don't know how old they are so plan on testing them at the 90 day mark. (the date on the devices is 2021).

I got this to replace my older smoke alarm that was installed in 2005, and it was easy to install and I like how the battery pops in and easy to remove. I do not know how long the batter will last since I just bought it but I ordered 6 more to replace the rest of the smoke alarms in my 2 story home. Be sure to check the wiring. I needed to get a cable that changed the inline 3 prong connector to a t-style connector and it worked great.

I bought two of these to replace two older ones. Everything needed comes with them. Very easy to install. Since they are brand new I don't know how long the battery will last. But I change batteries once a year so no problem. I will buy 3 more over the next months to replace the other old ones in my house. Very happy with this purchase.

Nice smoke detector. It was an easy install taking the place of another brand that had outlived it useful life. I rated the battery life at 5 stars but since I just installed it I really don't know how long it will last. I am assuming for a long time, but hey I do replace every year just to be on the safe side. I really liked the easy to reach battery door. This is a great feature that will allow you to change the battery without removing the unit from its mounting bracket, love love love to this feature and many thanks to the designer. Price was very good as well.

I Bought this as a replacement to a bad smoke detector in January 2022. The Detector I received is from September 2021. It was easy to install and has worked fine up until yesterday when it started beeping every 30 seconds at 5 AM. Tried replacing battery but did not make a difference, removing the battery did not stop the beeping. After reading the back of the detector it said to blow air to clean dust out of it. Did that and plugged it back in and worked fine up until 1AM when it woke me up again when I had to unplug it. I will still try a new battery.
Looking at the user manual today which has this warning that is not in the product description which I think is VERY IMPORTANT and should have been included in the product description:
Kidde alarms and accessories CAN ONLY BE interconnected with other Kidde alarms and accessories as well as specified brands and models of interconnect compatible alarms. Connection of Kidde products to a non-specified manufacturer’s interconnect system, or connection with non-specified equipment from another manufacturer into an existing Kidde system could result in nuisance alarming, failure to alarm, or damage to one or all of the devices in the interconnect system.
I do not see the list of non-specified manufacturer’s interconnect system.... This could be a deal breaker and apparently cause damage to your interconnected system..........

I bought one in 2020 for about $40 and another in 2022 for about $18. The one from 2020 is kicking strong.

The one from 2022: the battery died in about one week. Fortunately, I have fresh batteries ready to go.

These smoke detectors are easy to use, effective, and easy on the eyes. I will continue buying these as my other detectors expire.

Had a hard-wired smoke detector crap out so ordered these based on reviews. They are very easy to install and I assume they will work as expected. The fit was perfect for what I had so no drilling or snipping holes in the base. Re-wire, plug and play. There is a feature that I'm looking forward to trying called "Hush" which will silence the low battery chirp for 13 hours. Nothing worse than that chirp going off at 2 AM while you're sleeping and having to deal with it immediately. If this works as expected when it's needed, I'll post an update.

This model is great because the backup battery (9 volt) has a convenient door in the front so you don’t have to take the whole thing down to replace. Please note: if you are replacing an older version with this one, that looks the same size, the mounting plate is just a hair smaller so use the plate it comes with. I learned the hard way. Great value too.

How do you test a smoke and carbon monoxide detector?

Perform a Sound Test To check the alarm, hold down the test button for a few seconds until you hear the alarm sound. If the alarm or other alarms in your house don't sound or the alarm isn't loud enough, you should replace the CO/smoke detector immediately.

Where is the test button on Kidde smoke alarm?

Locate the "Test" button on the face of the alarm. The test button is the only visible button on the alarm.

Should my Kidde smoke detector have a green light?

Green LED - Will flash every 30 seconds to indicate proper operation. Red LED - Flashes in conjunction with the alarm sounding. End of Life Signal – Ten years after initial power, the unit will “chirp” twice every 30 seconds to indicate the need to immediately replace the alarm.

Why is my Kidde smoke alarm going off for no reason?

False alarms are most commonly caused by something interfering with the sensor. To clean, after disconnecting the alarm and removing any removable battery: hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly blow through the gap on the side of the unit with compressed air (like keyboard cleaner).
