How to make game sound come through headset ps4

The DualShock 4 controller for the PlayStation 4 features an audio port to plug in your headset. Headsets are primarily intended for voice chat, but you can also use them as your primary audio output source.

  • To change the audio output, connect the headset to your DualShock 4 controller and go to Settings.
  • Next, select Sound and Screen, click Audio Output Settings, and select Output to Headphones.
  • Select All Audio, instead of Chat Audio, to make the change.

N.B. This option is only available when a headset is connected to the controller. It will also automatically mute the sound on your TV.

Just got my PS4 today and I can hear other voices through the headset, but how do I make ALL sound come from the headset and the tv?

It's somewhere in the settings on the PS4 home screen.
Check either "devices" or "Audio" and there is an option to have headphones play just voice or all sounds.

Can't remember exactly, but it isn't hard to find. Also, i think you need to have headphones plugged in for the option to appear.
Hopefully that helped and i'm right.

Hold the PS button in the middle of your controller to get the menu to come up that allows you to turn the console off. In there somewhere is "adjust devices" in that menu you can edit what sound (chat, all, etc) comes through the headset. You can also adjust the volume.

You cant have the game volume come through the TV and headphones if your headphones are only conected to your controller. One of the other.

While in a Party:
Party Settings>>>Chat Audio>>>Prioritize Party Chat.

However this doesn't completely disable all game audio. It just boosts chat volume when someone is talking.

You can also choose Adjust Audio mix and slide it all the way towards Party Audio but again, it doesn't totally silence game audio.

Also:
Settings>>>Devices>>>Audio Devices>>>Output to Headphones

This one is a little weird. I don't know if you have Turtle Beach, Astro, Triton, etc. headphones. It can mess with the mix depending on what is happening.

These options may not suit your needs, so perhaps just go into the individual game's settings and turn off or turn down the game audio directly? Some headsets let you prioritize game and chat audio on the headset or base itself, if that's an option for you. Again, I can only go based on the headphones I'm using. To lower or cancel game audio in the headphones, I do it with my headset's Mixamp.

I feel like there used to be another setting that handled this, but it's gone after an update...

Output all PS5 and PS4 audio through DualSense and DualShock 4

How do you use headphones and earbuds with the PS5 and PS4 controller? If you play games at night but don’t have access to a fancy headset, there’s a way to output all PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 audio through traditional headphones and earbuds using the DualSense and DualShock 4. All you need is a pair of earphones with a 3.5mm jack, and you’re pretty much good to go. As part of our PS5 guide, we're going to explain how to use headphones with your PS5 and PS4 controllers.

How to Use Headphones and Earbuds with PS5 and PS4 Controller

To use headphones and earbuds with the PS5 and PS4 controller, simply follow the below steps:

Attach the Headphones or Earbuds

Connect any pair of headphones with a 3.5mm adapter into the slot on the bottom of the DualSense or DualShock 4 controller, located between the underside of the analogue sticks.

Setup Audio Output

If you don't hear any sound immediately, then take the following actions:

PS5

  • Press the PlayStation button once to bring up the Control Centre.
  • Select Sound > Output Device > Headset (Controller).
  • This should output all audio through your headphones or earbuds. In order to check it's all working correctly, fire up a game and listen for sound coming through your headphones or earbuds.

PS4

  • Hold the PlayStation button until the Quick Menu appears.
  • Select Sound/Devices > Output to Headphones > All Audio.
  • This should output all audio through your headphones or earbuds. However, you may want to test it by playing a game.

Adjust the Volume

To adjust the volume of your headphones and earbuds, navigate to the same menu on either the PS5 or PS4 by following the steps above. You'll see an option for Volume, allowing you to turn the sound up and down as required.

Do you use headphones and earbuds with the PS5 or PS4 controller? Turn up the sound in the comments section below, and check out our PS5 guide for more information.

How do I get my PS4 to play Sound through headset?

Hold the PlayStation button until the Quick Menu appears. Select Sound/Devices > Output to Headphones > All Audio. This should output all audio through your headphones or earbuds.

Why can't I hear my game audio through my headset PS4?

Click on 'Devices' and click on the 'Audio Devices' options. If you see that your PS4 cannot detect your headset, make sure that you have already plugged in your headphones into the PS4. If not, then insert the audio jack into the controller until the headphone-related options on the settings aren't gray anymore.
