How to make a 6.7 powerstroke turbo louder

On accident. Had one of the sensors work it's way out of the delete pipe. Made an amazing whistle sound. Louder than a big rig. However it kept throwing a code so I put it back in. So if you want some serious whistle just unbolt one of the sensors.

at idle or cruising? did soot get all over everything?

Only getting on the go pedal. Did not notice a lot of soot. Would still smoke like crazy coming out of the tail pipe.

Probably not good for something. Im sure the computer would go haywire with the tuning of it with sensors unplugged and whatnot.

Sensor was not unplugged. It had over time worked its way out of the bung. Probably was not tight enough when I put it back in originally. Drove it for a week this way and no codes were thrown. I put it back in. Was just sharing my experience.

However it kept throwing a code so I put it back in.

Sorry OOWeaver68. It's late and I am waiting for the BASS Classic to come on ESPN2 after the NASCAR racing. It noticed the loud whistling on Monday. On Tuesday evening I looked under the hood and noticed a fitting had slipped on my air intake. So I readjusted everything but the sound was still there. Was so busy this week that I did not have a chance to look at it again until today. I got up early this morning to head to the mountains for a mountain bike ride. Half way up to the mountains I noticed the engine light was on so I ran a diagnostic check and it came back with the code for exhaust gas temperature was to low or something like that. Can not remember the number but it was in the 20's when I left. Cleared the code but it kept coming back. So when I got home and after it had cooled down I crawled underneath and noticed the sensor out. Put it back in and the whistle was gone.

Up until today no codes had been thrown. Sorry for the confusion!

i bet it saw the one sensor was much colder than the other 2 sensors still mounted in the pipe

Bummer! I thought this was going to be a real way to hear the turbo better... not an exhaust leak!

just drill a hole next to a sensor. The sensor would be happy and you can get a wistle. Just drill it on the bottom to let moisture out and to shoot the soot down. You can start with a small hole and increase size until the desired sound is achived.

I find it hard to believe you were seriously telling someone to drill holes in their exhaust just for a little whistle. Why not just duct tape a whistle in the tailpipe or roll with bub rub and lil sis?:haha

No, I was joking, but it seemed as though it was taken seriously. I wouldnt drill a hole in my exhaust to make it whistle but drilling a 1/8"-3/16" gole on the bottom of the exhaust in a low area does prolong the life of the exhaust. It acts as a drain for the moistue which is a by-product of the combustion process.

So how do you protect the outside of the exhaust from moisture? Face it, drilling a hole in the exhaust is useless no matter what you try to do to justify it. Maybe drill a hole in your dpf so it doesnt fill with the water that is a byproduct of the combustion process?

Im aware of that. With that being said, how do you protect the outside of the exhaust from humidity and precipitation? What's the difference if the h2o is on the inside or outside? It's the same metal. I wouldnt worry about it
enough to drill a freakin' hole in the exhaust LOL

Do you think that drilling a hole in it will speed up the process of water or whatever else rotting out the system, starting at that particular hole?
