Hi There, Your oil life percentage is generally an estimated time designed to prompt the operator of the vehicle to have the oil changed as soon as possible. 5% is generally not something to be concerned about, but you should consider having the oil changed in the next 1,000 miles or less. My question is, can I make it
to this Saturday? I will have to drive approximately 120 miles to and from work during this time. It's important to note that I changed my oil the first time and I used the Honda filter with sythetic oil. Thoughts? 04-02-2019, 04:46 PM-Intl Steve Krew

I know I went beyond 0 at times and the counter then tells you how many miles past due you are, lol. 04-10-2019, 10:27 AMHonda-Tech Member

You can make it to Saturday no problem. I have the same feature in my Odyssey and I go about 6 months between oil changes (uses synthetic as well) before the minder comes on. 04-16-2019, 05:24 AM

Your engine won't flush the oil on the floor if your oil life hits 0%. It's just a software telling you to change it soon/whenever possible. Just don't ''stretch'' your oil change intervals every time and you'll be fine. How long can I drive my car on 5 oil life?Recommended Services. Hi There, Your oil life percentage is generally an estimated time designed to prompt the operator of the vehicle to have the oil changed as soon as possible. 5% is generally not something to be concerned about, but you should consider having the oil changed in the next 1,000 miles or less.
Is 5% oil life okay?If the readout drops to 5% it means that the oil has become so dirty that it needs to be changed immediately before it drops even lower. Indeed, once it reaches 0%, you have not only reached the point where service is past due, but also the point where the remaining oil is probably doing more harm than good.
How long is oil life in Honda Civic? In fact, most Hondas go anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 miles without an oil change, with some even topping out at the 15,000-mile mark.
Can I drive my car with 0% oil life? When oil life reaches 0%, service on your vehicle's engine is now overdue. By driving with degraded oil, your Honda's engine may fail or significant damage may be caused.
