Despite an ongoing battle with newer streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus, Netflix is still the most popular streaming platform in the UK, with an estimated 14 million subscribers as at the end of 2021.

It’s hardly surprising then, that hackers have adapted to take advantage of stealing subscriptions to the streaming service.

If you think your Netflix account has been hacked and you want to change your password, then look no further.

Of course, there could be a multitude of other reasons why you want to change your Netflix password: you’ve forgotten it, you want to stop that annoying family member you once gave your password to using it, or you just fancy a change.

If you can’t sign into Netflix, don’t worry: you should be able to reset your password by email or by text message if you've added your phone number to your account.

How to reset your password by email

1. Visit com/loginhelp.
2. Select 'Email'.
3. Type in your email address and select 'Email Me'.
4. Follow the link in the email you receive that will sign you in to Netflix automatically. Once signed in, you will be able to create a new password.

How to reset your password by text message

1. Visit com/loginhelp.
2. Select 'Text Message (SMS)'.
3. Type in the phone number associated with your account.
4. Select 'Text Me'.
5. Use the verification code you receive to reset your password.

If you happen to have forgotten the phone number or email, you may be able to provide more information online to recover your account.

It may also be possible to recover your account using your billing information.

How to change your Netflix password if you can remember it

If you want to change your password for another reason – and can remember it – then you can do so on your laptop. Sadly, there isn’t currently a way to change your password on a smartphone.

1. Log into your Netflix account.
2. Head to the profile icon in the top right corner and click 'Account'.
3. Select the 'Change password' option on the right section of your screen.
4. Enter your 'Current Password', 'New Password', and then 'Confirm New Password'.
5. If you want to make sure that everyone who is currently signed into your account is logged out then make sure you tick 'Require all devices to sign in again with a new password'.
6. Click 'Save changes'.

How To Reset Password Netflix

1. Visit Netflix login page.
2. Click the Sign in button.
3. Click Need help? underneath the Sign in button. Netflix will redirect you to the Forgot Email/Password page where you can reset your password.
4. You can choose to reset your Netflix password via email or text message. If you enter the email address linked to that account, Netflix will send you an email with detailed instructions.

If you happen to forget that email address, you are able to receive the verification code to reset your password via text message.

1. Click Email me or Text me, depending on the method you select.

What if you forget both the email and phone number associated with your Netflix account?

Then click I don’t remember my email or phone underneath the Email me/ Text me button. Netflix will ask you to fill in your first and last name on account and your credit/debit card number on file.

After entering all details, click Find Account to recover your logins.

How To Change Password Netflix

Changing your passwords often will help protect your account from hacks. If you remember your current password, you can change it with ease following the below steps.

Via Browser

1. Log in to your Netflix account.
2. Select your profile.
3. Move your cursor to your profile picture, and click Account on the drop-down menu.
4. Below the Membership & Billing section, you can see a Change Password button next to the encrypted passwords. Click it.
5. Enter your current password, new password and confirm your new password.
6. Tick the box Require all devices to sign in again with new password if you want all third-parties using your account to be logged out.
7. Save your changes and log in with your new password to continue watching films on Netflix.

Via Mobile

1. Open your Netflix app.
2. Select your profile.
3. Select More at the bottom-right corner of your screen.
4. Click on Account. Then you will be redirected to the account settings in the browser of your device.
5. Select Change password.
6. Enter your current password, new password and confirm your new password.
7. Tick the box Require all devices to sign in again with new password if you want all third-parties using your account to be logged out.
8. Save your changes and log in with your new password to continue watching films on Netflix.
