I am in the process of building a custom 3.6L engine designed to handle a fair amount of boost...and would really like to open up the exhaust a little bit if possible.

I have not been able to find any aftermarket options for the 3.6L Pentastar as far as headers....

Just curious if anyone out there has seen any?

I know the head has a manifold cast into it ..just curious if anyone has messed with this setup?

I'm having my blown up engine yanked out in the next couple weeks so I guess I can take a closer look at it then...

ajag, I've been searching around a lot lately for any and all aftermarket parts for 3.6L as well but have not found any headers yet. I see there are a couple of options for exhaust systems, but no headers yet. My 3.6 isn't quite ready for that yet, but I like to know what my options are.

I am still waiting for my custom 3.6l engine to be finished..its been under construction for the past 2 1/2 months and will probably be another 2 months before its done

Here's what's been done so far :

Stock block bored out and sleeved
Custom forged Pistons(lowered compression to handle 14lbs boost)
Custom ground cams for forced induction
Custom crankshaft
Custom ARP bolts
Fully ported heads
Stainless steel exhaust valves
Custom gaskets

But..I'm still forced to run the stock manifolds ..it still should be a monster when done..this one should reliably be able to handle the 14lbs of boost and not blow up like my stock block..its been almost 3 months since I've been able to drive my jeep and I'm really starting to miss it

There is no header option in the 3.6 as the manifolds are intergraded in the cylinder heads. Meaning the heads and exhaust manifolds are cast as one unit

I'm not sure how much access you have to stock manifolds from the head side, but porting would open them up for more flow. I've seen Extrude Hone used on heads and intakes. It's a pretty neat process: AFM Process - Extrude Hone AFM

So just curious here since Im a little new here, but ARE there any upgrade Head/manifold combos out there? I have not ran across them if so, or are these typically customized somehow? As a side note, I often seen that heads, manifolds, cams and something else I forget this early are normally installed before a turbo or supercharger, but I have not seen any of these parts out there other than the blower (Edelbrock and RIPP)

Okay here's my input on it. The only way to improve the factory mids for boost is to remove the cats.

Onl way to improve the heads/manifold is to extrude hone them.

Might be best to just remove the cats and turn off the rear o2 sensors so you don't get a cel. The cats will not hold up long in a boosted environment. Seen cats get clogged or blow out from boosting so yeah.....

There isn't an aftermarket combo to my knowledge as of yet. However the factory head/manifold can be improved by extrude honing. This will be the only way to guarantee that the head and manifold is the same size all the way thru. (I say this because the head and manifold are cast as one unit. There isn't no way to separate them)

Cams.....not tracking any but you could get a custom cam grind done thru someone like comp cams or crower cams

Cats are better in the house anyways right?

Im from GA where cutting catalytic converters off, adding straight pipes or glass packs would always get you a respected nod - Living in California for year, thaaaaaaat would not fly. AT ALL. Silly emissions tests.

Same here. Jeeps registered in Michigan, but I live in Tennessee/Kentucky (fort Campbell is literally split by the border) all three states don't have emissions testing. Although tn does, it depends on which county your in

unfortunately not well for him. There's a thread for his build on here. Search it out.
