Harley Hijinks

Verified purchase

The Harley Quinn animated series continues to impress with its second season. Everything you loved about the first season is back and better than ever. The ending demands a continuation and hopefully a season three isn't too far around the corner. Highly recommended!

Fanboys hate this

Do I need to say more? It's a lot of fun with profanity.

Sardonic

Sardonic best describes this Gotham City/Justice League script that never stalls; always accelerating forward. A lot of dark humor; a lot of the goriest blood splattering kills one could never imagine. Most importantly is the dialogue. It may be a cheap animation, but the intelligence behind the one liners far exceeds most movies (and I include most top award winners) ever put out. The literary depth of the banter; the repartees just keep a-comin'.

Great show, but Amazon has the episodes in the wrong order

I really love this animated series. It's the perfect balance of cartoonish violence without taking itself too seriously, but manages to create characters you actually care about.

WARNING: Amazon has put the episodes in the wrong order compared to their actual air date. Episodes 1 - 4 are in the right order, but then the description that Amazon provides or the order that they're presented in is completely messed up. The description of Episode 5 doesn't match the content. The description of episode 6 doesn't match the content, and the content belongs later in the series (though the description goes over what SHOULD be in the episode). What Amazon has as episode 11 should actually be episode 7, What Amazon has as episode eight should actually be episode 9, their episode 9 should actually be episode 10, their episode 10 is actually episode 11, and then episodes 12 & 13 are actually where they are supposed to be.

So in review, watch episodes 1 - 5 in order. Skip to episode 7 and then 11, then go back to episode 6. Next watch episodes 8, 9, and 10. Skip to episode 12, and then watch 13. Just in general, I would ignore Amazon's description of each episode, since they're wrong more often than right.

UPDATE:
Amazon now seems to be showing the episodes in the correct order, though they've got the names / descriptions mismatched in a couple of places.

Still love this show

I think this season was even better than the first. With Harley (voiced by Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco) having dealt with the baggage of the first season, she gets more of a chance to breathe free with her chaotic self. Not to say there isn't still some good personal growth and character moments.

Harley's relationship with Poison Ivy (Childrens Lake Bell), a ying and yang situation, remains a high point of the show. The voice actresses do such a good job. The writers make the wise decision of regularly reusing the top two recurring characters from last season, stressed-out Commisioner Gordon (L&O: SVU's Christopher Meloni) and weirdly affable Bane (James Adomian). They remain pretty funny. Unfortunately, Harley's spirited ex-spy, landlord Sy Borgman (Seinfeld's Jason Alexander) is used a lot less.

I did get a little tired of the high civilian death count. I know this is a dark comedy about supervillains, but it still felt like overkill. Also, I did feel the last handful of episodes dropped a little in quality. It was a situation of trying to move the pieces around and resolve things a little too late in the game.

Overall, if you loved the first season, you'll love this.
