We all want a puffier, pillowy, show-stopping pout, but how big should you really go? Everyone has different beauty ideals so here at the Glam Lounge, we offer two lip treatments: a Full Glam Lip Filler and a Mini Glam Lip Filler. So which sized lip plump is right for you? đ Just keep reading. Show
We're breaking it down and comparing the pros and cons of the Full and Mini Lip Plump so YOU can decide which treatment is best for your pout. Pucker up! đ What's a MINI Glam Lip Filler? We call it a Mini Lip Plump because it uses less filler - a little over half a syringe. To be honest, about 95% of my clients choose this option. Why? They want to build their lips up slowly. This smaller, more incremental process looks more natural and really lets us figure out your perfect pout by building slowly over time. PROS:First off, Mini Lip Plumps are ideal for first-timers. Virgin lips, baby! It allows you to try lip fillers, assess your pain tolerance (it's not bad, we promise!), and ease into the treatment plan. If you want bigger lips, you can always come back for more! Secondly, I'd consider the Mini Glam Lip Filler the smarter option for some people over the Full Plump. There is less risk of any filler migrating outside the lip borders (i.e. duck lips đŚđ). When you're new to injectables and fillers, it's usually best to start small and see how your lips respond to the fillers. CONS:The bad news? A mini plump will NOT last a long time, especially if it's your first lip filler treatment or if your baseline lips are very thin. You can expect a 2-3 month duration on average. BUT, if you're a returning client coming in for a touchup with lips accustomed to fillers, then you CAN expect a Mini Plump to last up to 6 months đđź. Some clients even last longer! It just depends on your body's natural ability to break down filler. What's different about a FULL Glam Lip Filler?A Full Lip Plump is bigger than its mini predecessor. As the name suggests, it uses more filler. This treatment uses a full syringe. đ YAAAAS QUEEN! PROS:The full plump is great for those who have full lips to begin with. Also, it's the correct option if you have lips that require significant symmetry correction. This cannot be achieved with a Mini Lip Plump. Another perk? Since this treatment uses more filler, it takes longer to break down. That means longer-lasting results on average compared to a mini plump. CONS:You cannot expect to gain volume in large lips with a Mini Lip Plump. Just like you cannot expect to fill a large pitcher with a small glass of water! If you have big lips, you need a full syringe. Which lip plump is best for me?A Mini Glam Lip Filler works for the majority of our patients. Even with "mini" in the name, they experience BIG results. This is such a popular. treatment, it's what Roxi is known for! Using her signature technique, Roxi creates gorgeous lips that are smooth while maintaining crisp borders. However, if you have naturally bigger lips or need corrective treatment, then you'll likely want the Full Glam Lip Filler. Rest assured, we're here to help you choose. Just schedule a consultation and we'll assess your lips and discuss your beauty goals to find the best treatment plan for you. Regardless of where your lips are at, a Mini or Full Lip Plump can help you achieve your perfect level of glam! Get your perfect plump at the glam lounge! One might say I have an obsession with myself, though not in a way that allows me to move through the world feeling especially at ease with what nature has bestowed upon me. Rather, Iâm in a constant state of self-change. Much like a therapist unable to take her own advice, I see othersâlarge noses, small noses, fine hair, coarse hair, curvy bodies, lanky bodiesâand fixate on, and often envy, their striking brand of beauty. When it comes to myself, though, well enough is rarely left alone. Until a few years ago, my commitment to vanity was purely surfaceâkeratin treatments, at-home dermaplaning, hot tools, serums, supplements, Swiss Kriss laxative facialsâIâd never gone to a plastic surgeon, experimented with dermal fillers, or spent any legit money on one single alteration. Not because Iâm opposed (I come from a family of proud plastic-surgery and Botox advocates), but because it never occurred to me that I didnât have to wait until I was 60 and then get the full liftâthat I could make small tweaks along the way. I came to focus on my lips becauseâtruthfullyâI was hyperaware of a specific standard of beauty that started to pervade and overtake popular culture, and I found myself hoovered right in. With every Insta girl with a pout that I upward-scrolled past, the more my face started to seem too pedestrian, too uneventful, too earnestly natural. Big, plumper, fake-looking lips were everywhere, even on girls almost two decades younger than me, and I wanted in. In the year that followed, I got lip injections twice, by two different board-certified physicians. The first time, I was acutely disappointedâI went to a buzzy, fancy practice that some of my beauty-editor friends frequentâand felt as though Iâd taken $900 and tossed it to the wind, Samantha Jonesâstyle. The doctor asked me nothing and seemed disengaged, and I left feeling swindled and unhappy. There was no difference, and I was told I could pay for more if I wanted to see fuller lips. By the time I visited doctor number twoâMichele Green, M.D., a New Yorkâbased dermatologist and RealSelf contributorâI realized the first round of enhancement might have been more successful if Iâd been assertive about what I wanted. I told Green right away that I wanted to see a noticeable difference, and she spent time both studying my face and asking me questions. We decided on one syringe of Juvederm, which is what Iâd had the year before, although Green concentrated it all in my lips, whereas the previous physician used some in the skin around my mouth. More on that below, as well as some other crucial intel I got from Green. If youâre thinking about lip filler, read this first so you leave with exactly what you came for. You need to prepâthoughtfully and physically. And the first time around, I did not. The first step, according to Green, is to decide how big you realistically want your lipsâthink long and hard about whether you really want to go from thin-lipped to Lisa Rinna in one fell swoop. It will be obvious. âYou really, really donât want [your lips] to be overfilled, and itâs easier to have too little than too much,â Green said. But if you know you want to see a real difference right away, itâs on you to voice thatâespecially since Iâve found that most doctors prefer their work to look hypernatural. Physically, Green suggests refraining from aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, fish oil, multivitamins, and vitamin E for about a week before your appointment, as each can act as a blood thinner and contribute to postinjection bruising, a common side effect. Leave the Kylie pic at home. The professional juryâs out on whether you should bring a photo with you to your appointment. Iâve read that some doctors like it, but others donât. Green is in the latter camp, likening it to bringing a picture to the hair salonâyou can show your stylist what you want, but your hair type may not achieve it, so then you leave disappointed. âEveryoneâs anatomy is different, and everyoneâs [face] has a different shape,â she said. Youâre better off explaining what you think you want and letting your doctor work with the configuration of your mouth to achieve it. (Still, when I mentioned the Kylie effect to Green, she confirmed itâs quite real among women of all ages. âEveryone comes in asking for her lips,â she told me. âThey all say, âI want lips like Kylie.ââ Make of that what you will.) Before Juvederm; a few weeks after Each filler can achieve different things.Gone are the days when women had only collagen as an option. In its place, a variety of dermal fillers have emerged that are based on hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in our bodies and is highly attracted to water and binds to moisture. Not to mention, the substance is pretty resistant to lumps and bumpsâI felt a few right after, but they quickly evened out. Choosing a type is best left up to the doctor based on your needs, but the smorgasbord is vast. For example, Green says a youthful, pillowy, voluminous look is best achieved with Juvederm, while she uses Restylane for an âI got my lips a little fuller but no one really will knowâ vibe, thanks to its smaller particles. For older clients, âI always do Volbella, which is good to fill in lines around the face,â she said. The Insta look doesnât come cheap.Weâre all inundated with images of women with really, really big lips, but I had no idea the money it takes to actually achieve that look. The single syringeful of Juvederm we used (1 cc) is technically less than a teaspoon of material, but it was distributed in a way that made my results more visible than they were the first time aroundâbut not wildly dramatic. When I asked Green how much filler the girls I see on social media get, she said, without hesitation, two to three syringesâ worth, if not more. Considering each clocks in at $400 to $1,000, depending on location and practiceâwell, start saving now. Filler isnât forever.I kind of wish it were, to be honest. It depends on the formula you choose, but according to Green, most last six months to a year. This means that if you love your initial results, take plenty of pics because it does fade. And thereâs not really much you can do to prolong the filler, since everybody metabolizes differently. After-care is minimal.Postinjection, your life can resumeâdespite some fear-mongering articles you might find online. According to Green, the only thing you should stay away from is aspirin. You can even toast your new look with a glass or two of wine. âSome people say you shouldnât drink alcohol before filler because you can bruise, but I havenât seen a huge difference after,â she said. As for an ice pack, the doctor will put a cold pack on your lips after your fillerâs been applied and will encourage you to use more if youâre feeling sore, but thereâs no need sit with it for hours on end. The real swelling goes down in a day or two. Another thing both doctors I saw suggested that makes sense: not drinking from a straw right after your injections, and not sipping hot liquidsâyouâll still be numb and might burn your lower lip. Ouch. Before filler; almost five months after After-care is minimal.Postinjection, your life can resumeâdespite some fear-mongering articles you might find online. Gradual pace of treatment is an option.Even though Iâd told Green what I wanted, she still insisted on saving a little Juvederm from my syringe to add later if I wanted it. âLive with what I gave you for two weeks,â she told me. Of course, I sprinted back for my leftovers, but if youâre feeling nervous or unsure, ask your doctor if you can use what you paid for gradually. Bruising depends on the person. For me, there was light bruising that happens naturallyâmostly around the top of my lip, which is sensitiveâbut if you follow your doctorâs advice (use ice, no Motrin, limit alcohol intake, donât touch, and try to stay upright or lie propped up for a few hours after the procedure), you should be okay. That said, everyoneâs body is different, so itâs hard to predict whether any bruising will surface after your lip injections. And if youâre really unhappy with the outcome?âYou go back and have it dissolved,â Green said. âAll the fillers people use nowâRestylane, Belotero, Volbella, Voluma, Juvedermâtheyâre all hyaluronic-acid-based, so they all can dissolve with hyaluronidase,â an enzyme that melts away hyaluronic acid rapidly and safely. Six months after I saw Green, my lips still looked killer. I noticed a slight decrease in volumeâtotally predictable given the time frame. You can probably see it in the above photos, so Iâll likely get another round soon. I wonât be offended if you notice. In fact, I hope you do. Perrie Samotin is the digital director at Glamour. Follow her on Instagram @perriesamotin. Should I get half a syringe or a full syringe? If you choose to use half of a syringe, it will give you a very subtle change and a more natural look. If you are wanting a noticeable change, I would recommend a full syringe. You will instantly swell after injecting lips but you can look when finished with half the syringe and decide at that point if you want more.
How long will half a syringe of lip filler last?A client who opts for one full syringe of filler can expect their results to last between 6 months to 1.5 years. Those who opt for half a syringe of filler can expect their results to last for a maximum of 6 months.
Is it worth getting half a ml of lip filler?0.5ml is a great introductory filler amount for first-time lip filler clients, especially if you're nervous of what the result will be. Remember you will swell after treatment a little, so you will not see major change with 0.5ml after the treatment has settled over the first 2-4 weeks.
Is a full syringe of lip filler a lot?"Most fillers come in a 0.8ml or 1.0ml pre-packaged syringe. This isn't a lot of product and the average lips (depending on the desired look) will need that amount to make any noticeable changes." Sabrina Stewart, MD.
