To Program the Intellicode Wireless Keypad
note: if red indicator light does not blink, it is not taking the programming steps. Check the 9 volt battery under the keypad numbers. To access, press inward, under the number pad lip while sliding downward to expose the battery. Part 2: Gently press and release the Receiver Learn Code button on the Power Head Receiver of your Genie Garage Door Opener (Genie motor on the ceiling). This small black button is located behind the light lens at the motor head and is nearest the floppy 6 inch antenna wire that protrudes from the power head. When pressed, a radio signal indicator will start blinking red for 30 seconds.
Adding More Doors to Keypad:
With most Genie units, remove the light lens globe to expose the Learn Button on the motor head. The learn button is sometimes located on the back of the unit, or with Excelerator openers, it is under the light lens near the hinge of the lens globe. Always locate the floppy antenna wire first. Find the Learn Code Button and the LED indicator light on your Genie motor head inside the garage. It is usually behind the light lens and close to the floppy antenna wire. If your Door Opener does not have an antenna, you have an External Receiver. The External Receiver cover must be removed to access the Learn Code button and the indicator LED. Follow Steps 1 through 3 outlined below:

Model 3: Programming instructions for the GK-BX Wireless Intellicode Keyad. Works with Genie systems using Intellicode 1 and Intellicode 2 controls. Intellicode 1 refers to all systems made from 1995 to Present, with the exception of 2011 and 2012. Intellicode 2 refers to most units made in 2011 and 2012. Programming Intellicode 1: Note: To clear out factory or previous program settings press and hold both the program key and the Up/Down arrow key until the light flashes twice and goes out.
Once your keypad is programmed, changing your present PIN can be achieved by entering current PIN then press Program, enter your new PIN and press Program. For every switch in the ON or positive position record a 1, for every switch in the OFF or negative position record a 2. Note: PIN stands for Personal Identification Number of your choice. Important: after step 1, perform steps 2 through 4 before the keypad back light goes out.
Back light should turn off after step 4. Test by entering the 4 digit code or PIN and press the zero button for enter or any key other than the # and * keys. To change your pin enter your PIN and press *, enter a new PIN and press * Do you have to reprogram garage door keypad after changing battery?With a keypad not working, check the batteries of the garage door keypad. You have to replace the battery every two years. After you have replaced the battery, you will have to reset it. Hold down the “Learn” button until the LED light goes out, which takes about six seconds.
How do I reset my Genie garage door keypad?Press and hold both the Program key and the Up/Down key for about 5 seconds. The LED will slowly blink and then go out. When the LED goes out, you have successfully erased the old programming.
Why is my keyless entry pad not working?The most common cause of failure in a keyless entry is a depleted battery. If the battery has already been replaced the problem may be a failure with the keyless entry or the receiver logic board.
