Destiny 2 valentines day event 2023

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, Destiny 2’s Lord Shaxx is eager to bring the season of love back to the tower. In a post on its website, Bungie revealed the details for 2020’s Crimson Days event in Destiny 2, which runs Feb. 11-18.

Players familiar with Crimson Days past shouldn’t expect much new for this year’s Valentine’s Day stand-in. The event-exclusive bow, The Vow, is back again this year. And players interested in taking on their fellow Guardians in a more intimate setting can play the two-versus-two Crimson Doubles mode.

The Crimson Days Sparrows are some of the few new things in this year’s event. The Sparrows come in a pair, and players can ride them side by side for a unique look. They mirror each other, with one side displaying one half of the Crimson days logo, and the other completing it. It’s like friendship lockets of space motorcycles.

Bungie’s post refers to the Sparrows as Crimson Days gear:

The bonds between Guardians are eternal but Crimson Days also brings loot to fall in love with, including a Ghost shell, ornament, emote, and a pair of Sparrows that are meant for one another. All Shaxx asks for in return is your heart.

Players can purchase the Exotic Sparrows by participating in Crimson Days. However, the emote, ornament, and Ghost shell are exclusive to Destiny’s real-money store (as mentioned later in the post).

Crimson Days is free for all Destiny 2 players.

Update: In its weekly blog post, Bungie confirmed the two Exotic Sparrows are gameplay rewards — purchased with Confectionery Hearts. We’ve updated the post to reflect Bungie’s announcement.

Destiny 2

After last year's hiatus, it will be back, but it will be changed.

Destiny's own Valentine's Day event, Crimson Days, was first held back in 2016. It got its fair share of criticism, so it did not return in 2017. But now things are different.

The return of Crimson Days was confirmed by Bungie's community manager Chris "Cozmo23" Shannon on Reddit: "The rumors are true. Crimson Days is coming back. It won't be the same as last time (2016). We will talk about how it is changing in the blog update on Thursday."

You may want to check out the Bungie Weekly Update tomorrow, Thursday 11th of January.

What did you think about Crimson Days? Are you glad the event is back?

New details on the 2v2 PvP mode

Well my Valentine’s Day plans are set. Bungie has revealed more about Destiny‘s upcoming Crimson Days event, including a list of themed loot and more info about the limited run Crucible mode, Crimson Doubles.

Crimson Doubles pits two pairs of guardians against each other in elimination style combat. The first couple to defeat their opposition five times wins the match. Whenever a partner is killed, the surviving guardian is empowered with the ‘Broken Heart’ buff and has maxed out armor, agility, recovery, and weapon handling until they either die or their companion is revived. There’s no matchmaking for partners during the event, so players will have to form fireteams on their own if they want to participate.

New shaders, an emblem, and (potentially 320 Light) ghost shells hang in the balance as players finish rounds, all-new bounties, and the Crimson Days quest line. Limited edition emotes will also up for sale in Tess Everis’ shop, including one that looks conspicuously like Drake’s infamous dance in “Hotline Bling.”

Crimson Days runs from February 9 to February 16.

This week's Bungie Weekly Update is chock-full of content. After taking a month-long update break, Bungie has a lot to bring to the table.

Leading off the update is a brief announcement of the upcoming Valentines Day event: Crimson Days Beginning February 9th and ending February 16th, the Tower will be decked out for the holiday (see above) with some interesting events. While the details aren't totally clear, the inclement February update will introduce a new Crucible mode titled Crimson Doubles featuring 2v2 gameplay and "sweet" loot. Little else was mentioned, though you can expect more updates next week.

Next on the list was matchmaking -- Bungie has managed to bring sweeping changes to how people are paired up. According to the Update, Bungie created and implemented a new algorithm without notice to the players. The algorithm  measures performance after every match on individual lobbies (e.g., Rift will be measured separately from Iron Banner or Clash) and will match you up with people in that same proximity. With that announcement, Bungie promises that new updates are coming soon to combat the latency/lag that users seem to be facing.

Last but not least, Iron Banner is coming our way next week, bringing a set of stunning weapons and armor.  The game is Rift and it begins January 26 at 10 AM PT. Check out the gear below:
