Craigslist double wide mobile homes for sale

A mobile house or home gets its name from the fact that it's normally attached to a chassis and wheels to ease its transportation from one location to another. These manufactured homes come in single, double or triple-wide sizes and can be much less expensive than comparable traditional or stick-built homes. Less costly still are used mobile homes, including those in double-wide sizes, and they're available from many sources.

Finding a Mobile Home

There are many different manufactured or mobile home dealers all across the country. The "MobileHomeParkStore.com" website lists more than a hundred mobile or manufactured home dealers in California alone. Some sell used models they may have taken in on trade or ended up with after a repossession. Also, several used mobile home websites, as well as mobile home parks and the homeowners themselves, frequently list used models for sale.

Dealers and Websites

A mobile home dealer may advertise its used models through its own website or through a larger website hosting many listings. The "MHVillage" website, for example, hosts listings for new and used mobile homes of all widths through its website. Many mobile home dealers and even real estate brokers list or advertise their used models through one or multiple websites.

Repossessed Mobile Homes

Some mobile or manufactured home owners default on their loans and end up losing their homes to repossession. Several websites list mobile or manufactured home repossessions in many different states, including California. Double-wide mobile homes run from 24 to 27 feet in width, and these websites allow those looking for used homes to search for widths, prices, bedrooms and other needs. Buying a repossessed mobile home from a lender website also may allow you to secure financing quickly.

Mobile Home Parks and Owners

Regrettably, some mobile or manufactured home owners end up losing their homes to their mobile home parks. Many mobile home parks advertise used models available for sale within their communities. For instance, the Redding Lakeside Mobile Home Park in Redding, California, among many others, lists several single and double-wide used homes for sale. Mobile home owners may advertise their own homes a variety of ways, including through local newspapers, through websites, on Craigslist, or through EBay's mobile home section.

Used Mobile Home Costs

The "Realtor.com" website says a 1970s-era used mobile home may go for as little as $5,000 to $15,000. Most mobile homes are sold without land, however, and buying that can add thousands to a home's purchase price. It can cost as much as $25,000 as of 2013 to move a mobile home, according to "USA Today." Also, if you buy a mobile home and place it in a mobile home park, expect to pay $200 to $300 monthly for lot rental.

Scrolling through sites like Zillow, Redfin, and Craigslist is a hobby of mine. I love to see how other people live and decorate their homes (maybe I’m just weird?). You can get a lot of mobile home decorating inspiration and remodeling ideas just by scrolling through all the mobile homes for sale. It’s also neat to see how mobile home prices differ across the nation.

Mobile home prices and mobile home park lot rent costs go hand in hand. States with the lowest mobile home prices will usually have lower lot rent as well.  Both mobile homes and lot rent are most affordable in the South but that can always change.

Our 5 Favorite Craigslist Mobile Homes for Sale

We’ve shared several articles with Craigslist mobile homes for sale across the nation but in this article, we share 5 homes in just 2 states: Ohio and Florida.

1972 Holly Park Mobile Home For $4,500 in Ohio

Our first find is a 1972 Holly Park single wide mobile home located in Ohio. The home appears to have its original cabinets, paneling, and built-ins. It also looks to be in very good condition for a home constructed in 1972!

Be extra careful when buying a mobile home built before 1976. That’s when the federal law took effect that required builders to meet minimum building regulations. Also, many mobile homes built before 1976 may have aluminum wiring. Always get an inspection done on any mobile home you are considering buying.

This home has a ton of potential and could make a great home for anyone. (This home has sold, sorry!).

This 1982 Single Wide found in Florida is awesome! It’s smaller than some single wides, at 834 feet, but it makes great use of its space with a nice open layout.

1982 Single Wide Mobile Home For $12,000 in Florida

Our favorite feature of this home? The kitchen, with its curved layout and plenty of both counter space and cabinets. This is another home that looks to be pretty much in its original condition. Light-colored paneling throughout and transitional kitchen cabinets along with copper bathroom fixtures make this a perfect example of a 1980’s model mobile home. Home has sold.

1987 Holiday Manor Mobile Home for $20,000 in New York

Wow! This 1987 Holiday Manor Mobile Home located in New York has been completely updated inside.

Both the electrical and plumbing have been overhauled. This mobile home has an open floor plan and looks to have plenty of cabinets and storage space.

We didn’t see any pictures of the exterior on the listing, but based on the updated interior I bet it’s in good condition.

There are a ton of windows in the living room providing lots of natural light. The light walls helps all that light bounce around, making the rooms appear to be much larger than it is. The home has sold.

According to the listing, it also includes a nice-sized glass-enclosed “Florida room” which is a great addition to any mobile home. Like most of the other listings we’ve shared, this home has the original cabinets and fixtures.

The exterior is updated with vinyl siding. For only $21,90, this home would be perfect for anyone since it wouldn’t take much to update this home. The home has sold.

1981 Liberty Mobile Home For $13,900

We really like this 1981 Liberty Mobile Home that’s also located in Florida. It has been completely updated. We especially love the laminate flooring, which gives the mobile home a wood floor look without the extra costs. The kitchen has plenty of cabinets and it appears from one of the pictures that they have used a dresser to create an extra cabinet and countertop space between the living room and kitchen. It matches the rest of the kitchen very well. We are big fans of thinking outside the box like this owner did! This home has been sold.

About Craigslist Mobile Homes for Sale And Buying Pre-Owned Mobile Homes

The mobile homes we’ve shared today were all posted on Craigslist. Craigslist is the best website to look for mobile homes in a park. That’s because mobile homes located in mobile home parks are sold privately, no real estate agents are required. The title is used to establish ownership.

Buying a pre-owned mobile home (or manufactured home) without land doesn’t require a realtor but we always want buyers to hire an independent inspector and pay an attorney or title company to search for liens nationally (not just in your state).
