Admission into nursing programs that required licensure and certification does not guarantee that students will obtain licensure or a certificate. Licensure and certification requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with the California State University, and licensure and certification requirements can change at any time. CSULB has not determined whether its nursing programs meet other states’ or territories’ educational or professional requirements for licensure and certification. Students planning to pursue licensure or certification in other states are responsible for determining whether, if they complete the CSULB program, they will meet their state’s or territory’s requirement for licensure. This disclosure is made pursuant to 34 CFR §668.43 (a(5)(v)(C). The 2020-2021, graduates of the School of Nursing achieved 99.3% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN, a required examination for the licensure of nurses in the United States. Currently, the national first-time pass rate is 82.3%.
Basic: The School accepts students into the nursing program at the sophomore level after they have completed all of their prerequisites. In five semesters, they graduate with a BSN degree and Public Health Certificate. Trimester BSN: Similar to the Basic BSN except students attend school year-round and complete the program in two years. RN to BSN: A Registered Nurse with an Associate degree is accepted into the BSN program and completes the BSN in 18 months.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master’s degree program in nursing at California State University Long Beach are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791. The baccalaureate degree program and master’s degree program (Advance Practice Nursing Programs) are fully approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
