Brock Lesnar made his shocking return to WWE at SummerSlam, and few saw that one coming. The Beast Incarnate’s deals have historically been very close to the vest, but a report surfaced afterward that WWE bumped up Reigns vs Lesnar. That is not the case. Show It was said that the Inglewood, California WrestleMania event in 2023 was slated to see the Beast Incarnate vs the Tribal Chief. The company was also planning Roman Reigns vs The Rock in 2022 at WrestleMania in Dallas. We can confirm that Lesnar vs Reigns was not planned for WrestleMania 2023, because they haven’t made plans that far out yet. Ringside News asked around about WWE initially planning Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar for WrestleMania in 2023. We were told that is an “incorrect report.” WWE is not making plans for the WrestleMania card in 2023, but they do know the venue will be SoFi Stadium. That LA building was the original intended home for WrestleMania 37, but the pandemic caused them to nix those plans. As Ringside News exclusively reported, WWE returned to Tampa for WrestleMania 37, postponing their SoFi Stadium show in the process. We will have to see how soon WWE books Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar. It is plausible that their match could go down in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel this October. The Rock v Roman Reigns has, for over a year at this point, been the rumoured main event for WWE WrestleMania 39. Ever since he became ‘The Tribal Chief’ in 2020, which is all about being the head of his family, WWE fans have fantasy booked a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock. The match probably would have happened already if it wasn’t for Dwayne Johnson’s busy movie schedule, which has meant he hasn’t been able to have a proper WWE run since 2013. However, reports have all indicated that unless something goes wrong between now and April 2023, the match will 100% be WWE’s main plan for WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles. And now, during a recent interview, Roman Reigns provided possibly the most positive update yet on the proposed match. Speaking to Sports Illustrated last week, Roman said that the chances of the match happening looked “even better” than the last time he was asked about it, via WrestleTalk.
The idea for the match came from Vince McMahon, who many fans speculated that it may not happen now that the 77-year-old has retired from his duties as WWE’s CEO, Chairman and Head of Creative. And with Triple H set to focus on younger talent in his role as Head of Creative, many fans thought that we may not see The Rock v Roman Reigns anymore. However, clearly seeing the of placing WWE’s biggest active star in a feud with arguably one of the most famous people on the planet, reports state that HHH is still planning on having the match take place next Spring.  There is no word, at least as of now, regarding when WWE fans can expect to see The Rock back on TV to set up his feud with Roman. One popular fan theory is that if Cody Rhodes isn’t fit by the Royal Rumble in January 2023, WWE could have the multi-time WWE Champion win the marquee match once again, setting up the match with his real-life cousin. It appears that WWE has changed course, however, after Lesnar confronted the champ following his title defense against John Cena at SummerSlam on Saturday evening. Per Ounpraseuth, Meltzer reported that Reigns vs. Lesnar is being bumped to 2021, and the faceoff will "most likely" take place at Crown Jewel in October from Saudi Arabia or Survivor Series in November from Brooklyn, New York.
