Benzoyl Peroxide Shampoo Is Different

All skin and coat cleansers formulated for dogs help clean the body, wash off excess oil and remove that ‘dog smell’, but benzoyl peroxide shampoos have additional purposes, such as opening and flushing the hair follicles.

Deep Clean The Hair Follicles

Demodex mites live inside the hair follicles and feed on cellular proteins, systemic yeast and dietary yeast found there. As the mites burrow deeper down, sometimes a few layers deep, they leave waste, sebum, and debris that further clogs the follicles. Removing this waste will help clear up many skin problems, and it is essential when treating for mites of any type.

Benzoyl Peroxide is considered to be the best deep cleaning agent available for pets and is widely accepted for treating mange. It has anti-bacterial properties, degreases oily dog coat, softens the skin, opens the pores, and has the unique ability to ‘flush’ hair follicles. Sometimes a mild case of mange can be resolved with aggressive shampooing and strong immune support.

How Benzoyl Peroxide Shampoo For Dogs Helps Treat Mites and Mange

Demodectic Mites
It’s helpful for softening and conditioning the skin before treating all types of mange. It clears out blockages in the hair follicles and leaves the mites exposed. When Demodex mites die they dump all their toxins and feces, which adds to the already unhealthy pathogens, not to mention further blocking the follicle. Therefore, continued use of a benzoyl peroxide medicated shampoo is important until all traces of the mites have been gone for several months.

Sarcoptic Mites
Benzoyl peroxide shampoo helps clear waste from the burrows and tunnels created by sarcoptic mites when they lay eggs.

Cheyletiella Mites
Benzoyl peroxide shampoo helps clear the mite related dry skin condition by opening and flushing the follicles.

Don’t Use Human Shampoo:

When buying a Benzoyl Peroxide shampoo, make absolutely sure to only use a shampoo made exclusively for pets. Human versions of this shampoo are much too concentrated for dog use and would do more harm than good.

And don’t try to make your own by adding Benzoyl Peroxide acne medication to regular shampoo.
