Air jordan 1 retro high og dior

Dior and Jordan Brand created one of the most hyped sneaker collaborations of all time in 2020 when they joined forces for the Air Jordan 1 “Air Dior.” An ultra-luxurious Air Jordan 1 with a clean color scheme, oblique jacquard Swoosh and eye-watering $2,000 USD price point (which seems like a bargain now as it regularly resells for four times that amount), the “Air Dior” was and is more than just a shoe. It’s a cultural touchpoint from a turbulent year, crafted artfully by Dior’s Kim Jones and Thibo Denis alongside the Jumpman’s design team. Now, in a surprising twist, the partners might be doing it even bigger in 2021: rumors of four more “Air Dior” colorways have begun to surface.

These speculations were kicked off by Urban Necessities founder Jaysee Lopez, who recently claimed that we’d see “Chicago” “Royal” and “Black/White” colorways in 2021. The flames of hype were fanned even higher when noted leak account Mr. Unloved 1s took to Twitter to expound on Lopez’s claims, saying that he’d also heard about the “Chicago” and “Royal” colorways but that there was no white/black pair, instead, an all white style, and that one of the three pairs would be women’s sizes.

At the time of writing, there’s no official confirmation from Dior or Jordan Brand about any of these rumored style, nor are any images available outside of the mock-ups from House of Heat that can be seen above. However, if any of these rumors hold weight we’ll likely see more info in the coming weeks and months.

Dior is doing a Chicago, Royal, and white and black aj1s.

From some more whispers out there, same thing, except no white and black, just an all white pair. One of these 3 is women’s sizes only. Hopefully we hear more soon. pic.twitter.com/uyHjy54BSv

Dior and Jordan Brand are scheduled to release their long-awaited Air Dior collaboration today in select boutiques, following an online pre-drop. Unfortunately for stateside buyers, the capsule will no longer be available at physical locations in the US due to rising COVID-19 cases.

"Indeed, the safety and well-being of our clients and employees are at the heart of all our thoughts and actions. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause,” Dior said in a statement. It remains to be seen if the physical release will be rescheduled.

Why is the Dior x Nike Air Jordan 1 release so significant

Dior and Jordan Brand unveiled their collaborative Air Jordan 1 at the Dior pre-fall 2020 show in Miami. Prior to the official debut, Travis Scott gave us a preview of Dior's Air Jordan 1 via his Instagram Story. Since then, we’ve been treated to images of a low top version of the same shoe, as well as release information that has been drip-fed to us by a mixture of Jordan Brand and Dior, as well as a handful of notorious leak accounts.

Coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan, the limited-edition Air Jordan 1 High OG underscores the timeless appeal of the sneaker and the style of Maison Dior. Designed using the same principles as a luxury bag, Kim Jones' goal was to make "the most luxurious Air Jordan 1 ever."

The special AJ1 is made entirely in Italy featuring a mixture of white and Dior Gray leather, with an Oblique monogrammed Swoosh (similar in style to the graphic featured on the fashion house’s popular B23 high-top sneaker) and hand-painted edges. "Air Dior" has also been applied to Jordan's familiar Wings logo. Lastly, the 1s are finished with a translucent outsole below.

“Every collaboration we do starts from a genuine connection and desire to expand the dimensions of each brand through creativity and design innovation," said Martin Lotti, Jordan Brand VP of Design. "Our partnership with Maison Dior will offer a new look into the style of basketball and blend high-end streetwear with luxury fashion. We will pay homage to both brands' rich iconography and draw inspiration from our heritage.”

It's being reported that since the Air Jordan 1 was designed in 1985, Dior and Jordan Brand have only made 8,500 pairs of the collaborative high-top; there's also 4,700 low-tops. Images shared to @solebyjc’s Instagram story (which has since expired) show that each pair is individually numbered on the ankle lining, seemingly confirming reports of 8,500 high-top pairs.
