Owners of 2015-2019 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans report that the rear sliding doors’ lock mechanism fails prematurely, frequently during the warranty period. This component failure creates a hazard to occupant safety and we encourage all owners and lessees of these vehicles to check for proper sliding door lock operation. Once lock failure occurs, the door lock does not respond to key fob, power button command, or manual operation. Failure occurs in the locked or unlocked position, either freezing a door in the closed position or rendering a door unlockable. Prior to complete failure, some owners report hearing a buzzing sound from the door while actuating the door lock. Many consumers have reported the defect to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). For example, an owner of a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan stated,

Thanks. Like yours, mine failed unknowingly for who knows how long before I noticed. I got the recall on December 11th per It only covered the 2015 to 2017 model years for some strange reason. More here as well: Weak Power Door LocksI have a 2005 DGC with power locks, no keyfob. When I press the power door lock button, the only doors that lock/unlock are the driver's side rear sliding door (which is very weak) and the rear hatch. Also, when I open the rear hatch or front driver's side door using a key, I have to open the... www.chryslerminivan.net Yes, they are a bear to replace. How long did it take you to do it? I don't think the child lock works either, another safety issue. That's when the door doesn't lock, like the one on my Passenger's side. Never tried that though.

From July 22/2021 I'm in Canada so documentation will be different. It just says to contact the Dealer to have the appropriate repairs performed. It's a warranty extension and they will likely ask for your VIN #.

It's an extended warranty for the 2015 to 2017 model years. Just phone the Dealership and give them your vin number, if they ask for it. It appears to apply to all vins for those model years.
I have a 2015 Town&Country and the right side sliding door opens and closes, but the latching sound at the end of closing is like a machine gun. My left side slider is inoperative, both mechanically and electrically and I am quoted $1025.00 to repair. Chrysler is loosing a buyer over this!

If the electric motor or the mechanism inside the door lock actuator wears out, the door lock may lock or unlock slowly or work sometimes but not all the time.
What is a door lock actuator? The behind-the-scenes mechanism that locks and unlocks your vehicle's doors with the push of a button is the power door-lock actuator. Mounted inside the door, it includes an electric motor, gears and linkage, or a cable that extends or retracts to operate the lock.
