Question = how to change shift silenoid.

The shift solenoids are in the valve body.
The valve body is behind the tranmsission side cover.
You would need to loosen the steering intermediate shaft and pop it off the steering rack, lower the drivers side of the frame while supporting the engine / trans. / frame so it does not fall out, remove the transmission mount, left axle, then the side cover. Now the solenoids can be replaced. There are several on the valvebody.
Not somthing I would want to do in my garage.

Re: 1998 Venture Ambient Temp Calibration

Unread post by TerryAuto » Tue Jul 22, 2014 4:38 pm

After replacing the ambient temp sensor, it just takes time for it to calibrate itself. Drive it a few miles, shut it off, then drive a few more miles, then let idle for a few minutes. If that does not work, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, then drive it again.

If all else fails, the sensor may not have been the problem. Check that the wiring at the connector for the senos is not corroded.

Where is the transmission pressure solenoid located?

In most cases, solenoids are located inside of the oil pan, connected to the valve body. Depending on what you drive, the technician may be able to replace just the failed shift solenoid.

What does a transmission pressure control solenoid do?

The role of a transmission shift solenoid is to control the flow of transmission fluid. The transmission control module (TCM) sends an electrical signal telling the shift solenoid when to transfer fluid into and out of the transmission and at what rate.

What is pressure control solenoid B performance or stuck off?

What Does the P0776 Code Mean? Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0776 stands for “Pressure Control Solenoid B Perf/Off.” It is a generic, transmission-related trouble code that typically applies to vehicles that are equipped with an automatic transmission.
