First-year
First-year students enter college after earning their high school diploma but before enrolling in any college study after graduation. They may have earned college credit while dual-enrolled in high school and a college or university. Students submit a high school transcript, a school report, one teacher evaluation (academic teacher), an SAT or ACT score, and official college transcripts for high school students dual-enrolled in a college or university. All materials must be received by the application deadline. Some U-M schools and colleges have additional application requirements.
Transfer
A successful transfer student is currently in good academic and social standing, and has a distinguished record of college work, earning a cumulative GPA of at least a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better. They have earned sophomore (30+ credits) or junior (55-60 credits) standing with transferable credit earned at a community college or another two-or four-year college or university.

The best way to find out if U-M is your ultimate destination is to do your research then visit campus in person with your family. We offer several visit options to answer your questions. Prospective freshmen and families can attend an information session and central campus walking tour, offered several times weekly. Transfer students can register for our Transfer Tuesdays, an information session and walking tour designed just for them. Information sessions are 45-minute presentations and the walking tour is 90 minutes. Ensure that sessions are available before you make travel arrangements.
Transfer students are encouraged to apply early in their final semester prior to enrollment at UM-Dearborn and in advance of the deadlines below. All components of an application must be received prior to it being personally reviewed by an

It is recommended that students submit applications well in advance of the application deadlines to secure seats in your preferred classes. Courses fill quickly.

The four academic colleges have their own admission criteria:
- College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters 2.50
- College of Business 2.70
- College of Education, Health, and Human Services
- Teacher Certification (elementary/secondary) 2.75
- Health and Human Services, non-certification education programs 2.50
- College of Engineering and Computer Science 2.75
- Students will either be admitted to Pre-Engineering or directly into their desired major. Learn more.
Applicants who plan to enroll as an F1 or J1 visa student must provide additional information to the Office of International Affairs, who manages the student visa process and Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
