Should i use olaplex 3 before bleaching

  • Yes, you can use Olaplex 3 after coloring your hair. You can be sure that Olaplex won’t ruin or remove the color.
  • It’s designed to solve the damage caused inside the hair by the hair dye chemicals. It doesn’t act on the surface of the hair by removing the color.
  • It is so color-safe that even Olaplex 1 and Olaplex 2 are used with hair color products. So, feel free to use Olaplex 3 after coloring because it won’t interfere with your pigmentation.

If you’re looking to restore your hair health after coloring it for many years, Olaplex 3 may be one of the best alternatives.

It doesn’t matter if you didn’t previously use Olaplex 1 and 2. They’re the two professional steps of this hair bond rebuilding treatment during a bleaching or coloring process.

You can use Olaplex 3 after coloring your hair, even if you haven’t applied steps 1 and 2. I assure you that you’ll notice the difference. .

How do I know?

Firstly, after seeing the change in one of my clients.

The truth is that I always use Olaplex 1 and 2 in the salon when I have to bleach especially if the hair is badly damaged. However, many of my clients don’t use Olaplex 3 when they leave the salon.

A few days ago, Jimena came to the salon. She has been coloring her hair religiously for more than five years. On that occasion, she had come for an intensive moisturizing treatment. And she really needed it.

I noticed her hair was very dehydrated and asked her if she used deep hydration masks periodically.

She looked at me with guilt and confessed that she didn’t. Her life had changed a lot in the last few years.

Her life had changed a lot in the last few months because she had become the mother of a beautiful baby girl. Also, she had returned to her office job.

Ttherefore, after so much work and stress, she had no time or desire to take care of her hair. .

Nevertheless, hair doesn’t understand the reasons, and hers were really bad. As Jimena had dyed her hair a few days before, a keratin treatment would strip it of its color. Also, it wouldn’t repair her hair considering the accumulated damage.

So, I suggested she go for Olaplex 3. It may be a more expensive treatment than a mask or a keratin treatment, but it’s safe and just what her hair needed.

A keratin treatment only acts on the outer part of the hair fiber. That’s why it’s super-efficient to eliminate frizz, but it fades the dye pigments almost immediately.

Olaplex 3, on the other hand, acts at the molecular level rebuilding all the links that make up the hair fiber as if the damage had never happened. It’s a total reset! And it doesn’t fade the color.

What’s more, since it’s a home treatment, it’s sustainable over time. What do I mean by this?

One bottle of Olaplex 3 can be used for many applications. Of course, it’ll always depend on your hair length. .

Three weeks later, Jimena came back to the salon. She didn’t want to color her hair, but to show me the changes of her colored hair after using Olaplex 3. They were really amazing.

Her hair, once gummy, had regained its usual elasticity. There was no trace of frizz, and I would even swear that her hair was slightly thicker.

Best of all,  despite using Olaplex 3 up to twice a week, the hair dye had not faded nor had the color changed. .

Olaplex doesn’t interfere with hair pigments, neither artificial nor natural. You still don’t believe me?

Since I won’t call Jimena to testify, stay with me because I’ll tell you:

Why it’s safe to use Olaplex 3 after coloring your hair

It doesn’t matter if you colored your hair yesterday, ten days ago, or a month ago. You can use Olaplex 3 at any time if you want to restore your hair health.

Olaplex 3 doesn’t strip the color of your hair as other hair fiber repair treatments do.

  • For example, keratin heat treatments, molecular cauterization, or moisturizing masks work on the hair surface because the hair color pigments are stored there.

.

So, when you apply them, your hair looks more hydrated and frizz-free.  However, the products strip the hair dye colors. .

  • The opposite is true with Olaplex 3.  It’s specially designed to restructure your hair from the very core rebuilding the bonds that bind the keratin in the hair fiber.  Those bonds break when you color your hair preventing hydration, vitality, and softness.

Imagine the Olaplex as little robots working inside your hair. Their sole mission is to find the broken keratin bonds to rebuild them. As they search for those bonds, they find hair dye pigments. However, they don’t recognize them as invaders of your hair. So, they don’t go against them. Their only mission is to identify hair damage and repair it.

Therefore, you can apply Olaplex to color-treated and damaged hair safely without any risk to the color.

How to apply Olaplex 3 after coloring your hair

You can apply Olaplex 3 immediately after coloring because it won’t have any lightening or negative effect on your new color. You can apply it to any hair color type.

The hair absorbs permanent hair dye. The hair dye penetrates the hair fiber by lifting the cuticles. Meanwhile, semi-permanent hair dye doesn’t penetrate the hair because it creates a film of color on the hair fiber.

Although these two coloring products are completely different, Olaplex 3 doesn’t alter the color deposited by either of them.

Remember: the purpose of Olaplex is to repair hair damage, not to ruin the color. .

Are you convinced? Then, let’s move on to the application process.

  • Hair preparation

You should avoid washing your hair for at least 48 hours before the application.  Of course, your hair must be wet to apply the Olaplex 3. Pay attention. I didn’t say soaked. So, wet it and gently remove the excess water with a towel.

  • Application

Apply a moderate amount of Olaplex on each of your locks, always from roots to ends covering the hair.

Leave it on for at least 10 minutes. The longer you leave it on your hair, the better.  You can even leave it on for up to two hours because your hair color won’t be affected.

  • Rinse

After the exposure time, rinse your hair with plenty of lukewarm, almost cold water. You should be used to cold water by now. After all, it’s the best ally for color-treated hair.

Remember,  use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Although Olaplex doesn’t remove color, chemicals do degrade it  and will be the real culprit if it fades.

After using Olaplex 3 four or five times on your color-treated hair, you’ll notice the difference. Your hair will be more docile, stronger, shinier, and frizz-free, but the color will be just as the first day.

Conclusions

If you want to repair your color-treated hair, Olaplex 3 is the best tool. It won’t strip your color like other hair treatments.

Remember, if your hair is severely damaged, you should continue to apply Olaplex at least twice a week for 15 days.

Do it without fear because your color and your hair will be safe.

Olaplex No. 2: Bond Perfector is then put on the hair once the bleach is rinsed out, usually at the back wash. This is left on for a good 20 minutes to really get the most out of its chemical mending.
