Sample Schedule
First year residents enjoy the convenience of having all rotations at California Hospital Medical Center, excluding the Community Medicine rotation, which are based at various locations in downtown Los Angeles. In the second and third years, away rotations and electives allow residents to experience a variety of settings - suburban to urban, small group to corporate, and a variety of patient communities. Core rotations include inpatient rotations in which the resident takes on senior supervising responsibilities as well as specialty-focused outpatient rotations in various clinic settings and private physician offices.
Salary and Benefits
Medical Student Rotation
Inpatient Family Medicine Sub-Internship
We offer a 4-week inpatient family medicine sub-internship to fourth year medical students in good standing at an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school. Students will care for full-spectrum family medicine patients on our inpatient service, including adult medicine, critical care, obstetric, and newborn patients. Students will also participate in our didactics during the rotation.
If you are interested in applying or have questions regarding the family medicine sub-internship, please contact [email protected].
Community-Based Partners
The Family Medicine Residency Program enjoys a strong affiliation with our community-based partners. On various rotations, residents spend time seeing patients at the Eisner Health Family Medical Center across the street from the hospital. Our community partners serve a largely indigent patient population, primarily Central American immigrants and help their own residents in models of health care for our inner-city communities.
Our community-partners include organizations like:
Eisner Health
Homeboy Industries
Hope Street Margolis Family Center
