Hi @sandysnow1 ,
Try running the diagnostics for the washer and check for any error codes. The error code meanings are on the pages following the linked page
Does it take a long time to fill when using the cold water only? Just wondering that if it does, there may be a problem with the cold water inlet valve. The water supply from this valve also passes through the softener dispenser. The supplier linked is an example only to show where the valve is located, how much it may cost to replace if faulty and the manufacturer’s part number.
If it is the problem search online using the manufacturer’s part number only to get results for suppliers that may suit you better.

Cleaning is required. Remove the tray and note the arrangement of trays, remove each tray and clean thoroughly.
especially in the round tube fillers. The cap covering these can be gummed up. dilute softener as it is quite thick

//youtu.be/43gLRQuDfsA Finally solved problem by using this YouTube video. Using the interdental brush to clean the water dispenser hole was the trick. So glad this worked and no major repair bill. Less then $10 for the bottle brush and the interdental brushes.

Long story but after taking the cover off of my LG WM5000HWA, I have nailed down a leak (underneath) to be that the fabric softener dispenser will not drain and thus overflows. I have cleaned it many times with hot water/vinegar/etc. and that does drain when I open the little tub drain hose at the bottom left. However, it will not drain during a cycle - at all!
I did find out that the plastic tab holding the dispenser up at the right was broken. But even when I held it up during the rinse cycle with water filling, it would not drain -- at all! Note this is used to fill the tub for the rinse cycle and so it is about a pail full of water that goes through this!
Is there some signal that is supposed to be sent to open it during the rinse cycle, and perhaps that signal is not being sent?
We have had a lot of issues with this washer, so this is not a shocker. It is not even 5 years old yet.
Thanks!

Dispenser Does Not Dispense Completely - Front Load Washer
When the detergent you added to your washing cycle is not dispensed completely into the washer tub, it may be caused by three major reasons:
the type of detergent you are using,
the amount of detergent you applied,
a maintenance related issue.
Quick Steps
Type: Use HE detergents ONLY.
Amount: Use no more than the amount recommended by the detergent manufacturer, it's even safer to use less.
Maintenance: Dis-assemble and clean the dispenser drawer. Refer to our Cleaning Steps below.
Not dispensing from detergent area.
When detergent is not dispensing from this area, it's mostly caused by NOT using HE detergents. If not, you will need to dis-assemble and clean the dispenser drawer using our Cleaning Steps below.
Tips for using HE detergents.
Use NO MORE than the amount recommended by the detergent manufacturer, it's even safer to use less.
If you see soapsuds (bubbles that form when soap is mixed with water), use half of the recommended amount or keep reducing until no suds are seen anymore.
If you live in an area with soft water, it may be necessary to keep reducing to as little as 2 tablespoons until you understand the right proportion that completes your washing cycle without any form of suds.
HE Detergents that are 2x or 3x times concentrated may require you to use even less than 2 tablespoons!
If using a powdered HE Detergent, the blue liquid detergent insert must be removed from the drawer. Place the powdered detergent in the cavity where the blue insert was located.
Not dispensing from bleach area.
Make sure that the bleach compartment is clean and properly attached. Refer to our Cleaning Steps below.
Make sure you use liquid bleach only.
Avoid using splashless bleach because it is too thick to dispense.
Not dispensing from softener area.
Because fabric softener has a thicker consistency, we recommend that you dilute the fabric softener with water in ratio 50:50.
Make sure that the softener attachment is clean and attached properly. Refer to our Cleaning Steps below.

Detergent, bleach, softener usage tips.
Watch the videos above and make sure that the trays are inserted correctly as shown in the picture below:
- Pull the dispenser drawer towards you until it stops.
- Press down hard on the disengage button and pull out the detergent dispenser drawer.
- With the drawer removed, remove each component piece gently.
- Clean each component with warm water and a soft-bristled brush. Wipe any moisture with a dry towel or cloth after cleaning.
- Return the detergent dispenser drawer gently.
