Many songs played on the radio are censored.
The audio cues vary:
- The explicit word is muted
- The word prior is repeated, perhaps backward
- The explicit word is audibly transformed in attempts to conceal itself
All Time Low's "Monsters" is the first song I've heard whose censored version doesn't feel censored at all.
In place of its explicit word (and the preposition that follows) is found an equal syllable word conveys the same meaning.
If I hadn't heard the explicit version, I wouldn't know any better.
What an incredible way to accommodate censorship for the sake of ensuring your work can be accessed by the masses without much - or any - creative sacrifice.
