Are Mitsubishi Outlanders reliable cars? I’m surprising my husband with a new car but I want to make sure that whatever I buy will last for a long time and won’t need tons of repairs.

It’s so sweet of you to surprise your husband with a new car! The Mitsubishi Outlander is considered to be pretty reliable and lasts an average of 200,000 to 220,000 miles. The average annual cost of ownership is $519, which is quite low!
Of course, every car will need repairs eventually. The most common issues with the Outlander include:
- Premature brake wear
- Air conditioning issues
- Transmission failure
Some of these problems are more common in specific model years, so be sure to research different years before you choose your Outlander.
Don’t forget that you’ll need insurance for the new car, too! Check out the Jerry app, where you can see a list of policy quotes that work for you in minutes. The average user saves $887 per year.

I'm curious what peoples mileages are or have been on their Outlander's and what if any major $$$ issues.
Quick survey reply if you are into it.

2016 GT V6 with 6k miles. It better not have any issues this early, and it doesn't. I am a believer in their big warranty.

The '16's have some problems and recalls already.
Me: 2013 Outlander SE 4WD - 72K miles. A/C compressor went out at 60K (replaced under warranty.) No other issues.
Just regular maintenance - as mentioned - DO do them. Due to the milage, I've already done all 4 brakes, and tires, too.

I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS V6 with 100,300 miles. So far so good just regular maintenance, I am hoping to keep her until the Future bigger Outlander is released with added room.
