This will be the final update for the Murray 2 Fire. The Murray 2 Fire has remained at 3,237 acres and 100% containment since Sunday, October 2nd.

The Murray 2 Fire was a natural-caused wildfire discovered on September 11th and a confine-and-contain fire suppression strategy was implemented. A team of 59 fire staff from the US Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the State of Arizona utilized existing roads, trails, and natural barriers while implementing varying types and intensities of operational actions to delay and direct fire spread.

On the afternoon of Monday, October 3, 2022, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) as well as the County Emergency Management Department (CCEM) began to receive reports of indications that a possible tornado had touched down in the Junipine Estates neighborhood ten miles north of Williams, Ariz. Later in the afternoon the weather event was confirmed by the National Weather Service in Flagstaff as an EF-1 Tornado, with sustained winds between 86 – 110 m.p.h.

Today, October 3, 2022 at 1:30 p.m., Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received a report of a weather-related event in the Junipine Estates community north of Williams, Ariz. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed a tornado touched down and passed through the Junipine community, causing damage to between eight to ten residences.

A temporary shelter has been established by the American Red Cross at 636 South 7th Street in Williams. Animal shelter information is forthcoming.

The Forest Service is reviewing several Coconino County proposals designed to reduce post-fire flood impact in the Flagstaff area.

The proposals seek to minimize private land damage and protect watershed resources and will target areas within or directly adjacent to the 2022 Tunnel and Pipeline burn scars.

Some of these areas, adjacent to both private land and City of Flagstaff land, were previously analyzed and approved for post-fire flood structures after the 2010 Schultz Fire.

Fire crews on the North Kaibab Ranger District plan to manage a new natural-caused wildfire discovered on September 11th. The Murray 2 Fire is estimated at 300 acres and is seven miles south of the Jacob Lake Inn along Arizona Route 67.

The fire is burning within the 2006 Warm Fire area. The fire suppression for this incident is to confine and contain it to a predetermined area. YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) says a wildfire erupted on June 15 around the area of Levee Road and 4E.

At around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, flames broke out and BLM says the incident always started as a wildfire along the Colorado and Gila River.

Reports say about 30-40 acres were burned so far.

BLM says they used resources from the Fish and Wildlife Services, the City of Yuma and units from Rural Metro to contain the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
