Step 1 |
Measure and cut five pieces of construction paper 2" x 12" [5 cm x 30.48 cm] to make the tall portion of the hat. |
Step 2 |
Lay the strips on your work surface, horizontally and glue the strips together. Then, carefully wrap the entire piece around your head to measure and mark your hat size. |
Step 3 |
Now, lay the hat piece on your work surface and add 20 stickers to each of the five stripes on your hat. |
Step 4 |
Glue (or tape) the ends together where marked so it fits your head |
Step 5 |
Lay a paper plate on your work surface, then lay the paper hat "tube" on the top of the paper plate. Draw a circle around the hat onto the paper plate. |
Step 6 |
Now measure in about ½" [1.27 cm] all the way around the inside of the circle. Cut out the area inside the inner circle, then snip around the inside of the circle to the other drawn circle about every ½" [1.27 cm]. Fold up the tabs you just cut so you can attach the top part of the hat to the brim of the hat. |
Step 7 |
Paint the paper plate black and let dry. |
Step 8 |
Lay the top part of the hat over the tabs on the painted brim. Glue (or tape) the tabs to the inside of the loop of the hat. |
Step 9 |
Add 100 on the hat brim with foam stickers. Share your project photos with #MakeItWithMichaels |
